I've wanted to get into home automation for some time. But I honestly don't know much about it. I have looked around a little for active open source projects and haven't seen a lot. Is there any interest here in starting a new open source project? Since my forte is .NET I envision a Siverlight (WPF) project with a really snazzy skinned UI. Perhaps use some of the X10 hardware and develop drivers for popular AV equipment. Asus now has on the market a nice little touch screen PC for $500 that could used for the HMI.

Is there any ideas or interest here in such a project?

Mike

I have been messing around for automation for my house for awhile. I finally bought the HomeSeer software (link below). They have developed their own touch screen interface which is relatively easy to setup. I actually sell quite a bit of commercial building automation systems but it was cost prohibitive to install a commercial system in my home.
