|
|
OK, I have both a XA2 HD-DVD and PS3 as my primary sources. The XA2 is putting out a lot brighter image with far better black level detail. My brightness and contrast settings are 23 and 68 respectively. When I switch to the PS3 the image is far too dark. Even increasing the brightness to 45 I still lose a lot of shadow detail. I looked through the menu on the PS3 and can't find an adjustment that would give me a similar output as the one I'm getting on the XA2. Am I missing something?
Thanks

PS3 settings are a mystery to me. Try the settings described here. They worked a lot better for me.

I recently discovered this issue using my PS3 with my G70 running through a first gen HdFury. Here's the thread for my solution: https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=16221.html
Check:
Settings -> Display Settings -> RGB Full Range (HDMI) (May need to set this to limited)
Last weekend I installed the Full HD IFB Moome card and can now operate the PS3 in Full range.

I'm running RGBHV through the Moome EXT-HD box. Would you recommend feeding component from the PS3?

Yes I'm using HDMI out with RGB selected on the G90.

The blacklevels of my 80GB PS3 are ok with a Moome ext. hdmi/component box using hdmi.
My Tosh XE1 is to bright using hdmi and I correct this with my vps 3800 scaler.
It looks like brightness is way up and blacks get dark-grey without adjusting my scaler.
The Tosh via component is a lot better but I get no 1080p then, only 1080i
