The tolerance is super tight on the housing I have seen so it might work if the Sony tubes are same/smaller (but not too much) than the P19/PT22s used in the 1209s. Even a few mm bigger would be a problem you probably need somebody to measure both tubes bare to figure out it it worked. I sold my last bare P19 so cannot help you there.
