Time to put my boat back in the water, and I NEED to obtain a quantity of Anhydrous Lanolin. Of course, it's used in soap and cosmetic making but none of the hobby/craft/supply shops locally have any. Boatsy people hereabouts have never heard of it, drug stores try to sell me nipple cream (really!) but all the creams and lotions that are lanolin based are not appropriate to my task...
My task is simple: I need to lubricate my trim tab motors in the hopes that they do not fail (again.)
Aussies seem to know that lanolin grease has the dual benefit of anti-fouling and lubricating properties. Its' been said that commercial marine folks use it to waterproof and lubricate wire rope, references to it are all over the net but I can't find a local distributor/reseller to save my life.
My goal is also simple: Acquire a pound of unadulterated anhydrous lanolin locally. All the creams, preparations, lotions, etc are altered to promote absorption into the skin (even udder cream and Bag Balm) but the "only removable with turps" sheep grease is unavailable.
I found an online source thats' cheap enough (including shipping) but I'm hoping to find some this week. Any of you freaks know anything about squeezing sheep?

I think if you stick something big enough into the sheep the grease just pours right out of them.

Always glad to provide some amusement!
I'm in the Greater Boston area. I actually found a company in the town where I work... A commercial-scale compounder of cosmetics. I could probably grease up every boat in my yacht club for ten seasons with their floor scrapings!
Looks like I'm gonna have to order online.

Hmmm.... pure lanolin HAIR CONDITIONER?!?!? Talk about your greasy kid stuff. Makes bryll creame look tame.
I'll check for beauty supply houses for Dax by name.

Negative... The DAX products are "compounded with 100% pure lanolin" and contain petroleum jelly among other stuff. I've already got a tub of that (with cod-liver oil for vitamins A and D, great for treating skin irritations on a Great Dane as it happens!)
