I had a Lumagen scaler, which can set the resolution freely. As I know , there are several anamorphic ratios for movies, like 2.35, 2.39, and 2.4. How do I know which resolution is 1:1 mapping for one of them?

Well, if you set the input and output aspect rations to the same 2.35-2.35 and have the pixels count map you will be at 1:1. For example, on the Lumagen for 2.35 set your output and input aspects to both 2.35. Then for 1080p sources, set the output active pixels to 1920x818.
Verify with the internal test patterns when you are done, or better yet use a generator.

The correct res is 2:40, which work out at 1920 x 804.
2:35 hasn't been used since the 1950's.

If you are using a Lumagen the best way to set it up is 2.35 because you have an input aspect that can easily be matched with the press of one button.
2.35 is a good choice anyway because that way any ratio 2.35 and higher (2.4 or 2.5) can also be used inside of the 2.35 aspect without loosing image. Unless you want to configure a projector memory for every aspect higher than 2.35, you should just use 2.35.

You can grab this SS off my web page to help calculate your pixels http://www.cir-engineering.com/bin/ars.xls.

Then why do newer movies like I Robot, The Transporter movies and others come in 2.35:1? I also noticed that many animated movies are 2.39:1.
I just created some masking panels for my 16:9 screen to accommodate any of those. There is no overscan for 2:40:1 movies, but 2.35:1 movies overscan by 1/2".

They should all be 2.39:1, no matter what the BD or DVD case says.

Yes, sorry, 2.39:1.
But 2.39:1 doesn't work out to a round pixel number, from memory, you'll end up with 2.40:1 I think.
2.35:1 is a turn of phrase only these days (to be correct it disappeared in the 70's, not the 50's...my memory is going...)

So there is no test pattern or something else to test if the setting is correct, and we can only calculate the resolution with 2.35 or 2.39 ratios? 2.35 and 2.39 is my real question because they tell different numbers to judge correct resolution.

On a PC the Haali Renderer will tell you when it's scaling. You turn on the OSD and find the res that doesn't scale the 1920.

Look at patterns with every H line and then every V line. If your projector can't resolve this, look at every other line patterns. The patter should be smooth and look uniform across the screen. If you see banding it's not 1:1.
