How strict are the G70 installation guidelines w/r to distance from the screen? It appears I can use RGB size to compress the size of the image. How much will this compress the image size?

What are you trying to do? RGB size will bring the size down as much as any of the controls. When setting up the throw distance you should set the image to the right width on the tubeface and then increase the distance between the G70 and screen until the image fills it. Do you have the manual?

Right - I did read smg like that in the manual... which I do have. The question has to do with how far away from the screen can I get this puppy? my room is like 30 ft. long, so placing the unit on the floor at 10' (approx - as shown in the manual) is really not the best for the layout of the room. I would like to move it back say 3-5 feet, but of course the image will be much larger than my 4:3 120" diag. screen.

The lenses have a set throw, generally around 1.3x screen width. You do not want to change this as a smaller image on the tubes will limit usable resolution and wear the tubes (possibly much faster) depending on how far back you are.
Could you move the screen?

Ceiling mount will be your best option if it's doable.

Buy a digital if you can't put the G70 in the right spot.

Mark is correct. There is exactly one location for the projector at a given screen size, give or take just a couple of inches. If you can't put the projector in that one spot, then a digital projector with a zoom lens is really your only option.

CRT's egenrally sit over the front row of seats in a typical HT, you need a ceiling mounting bracket
