It appears I have been stricken by Murphy's law again! I'm not going to let him win!
I have been working on getting a Retroblock D708 running again. I just got done pulling the tubes to fix a glycol leak. Due to the overhaul, I have run into a few obstacles
1. It appears the solvent I used to clean the glycol up somewhat dissolved the black coating on the outside of tubes. The projector works fine, but when it is running you can see the tubes glow. Is this something to be concerned about? What is the black coating for?
2. A few times, when using the projector in the table front projection setting, The SF led turns red on the LED indicator cutting off the high voltage. When I opened up the projector a red light was on on the deflection board. See photo. I read the SF LED means that the set has a horizontal or vertical deflection failure. When I first booted the projector up, I was also getting areas of the CRT which were not being scanned. see photo.. Haven't seen this issue for awhile.
If I switch the projector to ceiling front mode and I no longer get the red light. Should I worry about this? As a side note, I need to fix the raster center, which has been posted as a separate forum question.
I did get a little bit of Glycol on the Yoke behind the tube. I tried to clean it up best I could. I didn't see any Glycol on any circuit boards.
3. No other problem to report. Right know it is running fine....just need to tweak all the settings.
