Yeah, but that was just old 4:3 production version. Did you ever see the HD prototype? Bet you didn't know anybody had a true 16:9 HD set back then, did you?!?!?

Nice Photoshop job! Thumbs Up ....The wood grain pattern matched exactly on the front .

Working with that low resolution image is pretty rough.

There's a little "repeater" in there, but it's OK because of the naturally repeating pattern. The woodgrain actually made it easier than it might have otherwise been. The trick with low-res images is to res them up - I usually do 4x or so - do the edit, then res them back down. It hides a lot of stuff. Wink

Heh heh... No time for a Blu-ray player - I was racing the clock to see how fast I could do the shop. Took me 10 minutes including uploading it and writing the post. Besides, I wanted to keep it believable. Wink

That thing wasn't really '73 vintage, was it? I would have guessed something more like '78 or '79. Anybody know?

I had one of the first JVC 55" 16:9 RPTV's SD-TV in 1993. It supported Enhanced 16:9 DVD's. When connect with S-Video it somehow automatic sensed an Enhanced DVD kicked in an anamorphic squeeze making the scan lines much smaller. The convergence board died in late 1999 so thats when I picked up the cicra 2000 Mits RP-HDTV, the Mits get about 5 hours a day on it minimum, been a great set.

Don't forget the ill-fated Cinerama version... (yeah, this one's a little sloppy...)

I'm pretty sure that Cinerama screens were only curved on one axis.

It would be interesting if General Electric set forth on a path to deliver the $20K home Cinerama that used CRT projection and a curved setup. It would remove 'movie watching' from the public to private place, and institute a change in entertainment philosophy like never before. They could accept the award for killing the public theater. They can make it a part of their Ecomagination (or whatever they call their chit).
