Not if they want to do hidef, because as far as I'm aware, it ain't gonna happen. XP/Vista is honestly a far better bet for htpc stuff.

Played with the latest release of Umbutu but on a very old slower computer. It is VERY nice and plays most anything w/ VNC. I have gotten it to play some ripped BR. I believe there is also a release of XMBC for Linux.
Had this version of Unbutu been out 18 years ago, Windows would NOT have the monopoly they have now on OS's.

I doubt this version of Ubuntu would have run very well on a 386/33 with 2mb of RAM. Razz

Hey - it's old, it's obsolete technology, and it doesn't perform up-to-snuff. For a computer, it's as close to analog as you're gonna get! Twisted Evil

Oh no...I have an original IBM XT that runs at a blistering 4.77Mhz across an 8 bit bus...Not that is analog.

I helped rewire an analog computer once. It was used to switch a model railroad. Thumbs Up Must have been 10 miles of wire in there Laughing

Used to have two 8086 machines (around 5Mhz I believe), no hard drives, just two 5 1/4" drives. Boot off one, load programs off the other. Finally tossed them a few years ago, fun programming BASIC on them though.

I grew up playing King's Quest, Space Quest, Scorched Earth, etc. on a sweet 286...those were the days!
