As the title says, I have recently built a hush box for my 1292 (man should have done that earlier) and am wondering weather I should run it with the covers for the projector on or off Question Question Question

There are others that can answer this more accurately, but some people have said that the cooling was an afterthought on the 1292. Going with that thought, you might be better off to run it without the covers.

There is a good chance the covers are an integral part of the cooling system used for controlling the direction of air flow. I recommend keeping the covers in place.

Never played with a 1292 but just measure the temperature on the major heat sinks with a digital thermometer before and after. My BG 1209s runs much cooler with the top cover removed.

I ran my 1292 for a couple of years without the covers on and didn't have any problems. I kept a themometer attatched to the underbelly of the hood and it ran a couple of degrees cooler without them. The thermometer wasn't attache to any heat sinks but it performed fine.

I'm building a hushbox for my G70 and I plan on removing the covers. I will be using a very quiet 90 cfm bathroom fan to draw the hot air off. My vote is for covers off.
