Other than Runco adding the C elements and a black case, is there any differences between these three models?

Thanks!

What do you mean by "Runco adding c-elements"? All 3 have to have c-elements. All three even have tinted Green and Red c-element too I think.

Differences:
- Sound level and cooling method. The Cine9 is much quieter than a 909. The 909 has a fan on the hor-defl board that makes a lot of noise when it starts spinning when the temperature rises above a certain threshold.
- The Cine9 has an aluminium plate behind the fans to lower the sound level
- Max hor scanrate. the Cine9 is limited to 135khz while the 909 scans all the way up to 180khz.
- Cine9 has the limo-pro onboard, thus enabling the Video and S-video inputs. On the 909 the video and S-video inputs do not work as the minimum scanrate is 32khz.
- I don't know if the configuration changes are done only in software.

Curt: The Cine series brochure here states that the Cine 7/8/9 are all colour filtered (not to be confused with colour corrected): http://www.curtpalme.com/docs/BarcoCineSeries_Brochure.pdf

Reiner: You sure that the Cine9 is bandwidth limited to 135Mhz? The Cine 9 brochure here says it's 180Mhz: http://www.curtpalme.com/docs/BarcoCine9_Brochure.pdf
(As does the previous Cine series brochure listed above).

Cine9 have colored c-elements, but 909 not.

It have limited max hor scanrate, not BW. Doesn't mean anything to HT use.

So sum up:

Cinemax=Cine9=Runco DTV1200

909 need colored c-elements and fan mod.

Oops! Sorry - you're right Ile. I read that too fast. Both are 180Mhz *bandwidth* but the Cine9 is scanrate limited to 135Khz (which is already way beyond anything we'd ever use).

Hell, my Zenith 1200 is scanrate limited to 75Khz through software but the electronics could happily do 120KHz if they were allowed to (like a regular Cine 8 Onyx it's based on). I've never had it higher than 1080p/60 which is only 68Khz!

135Khz would let you do over 2100p/60! 180Khz is enough to do almost 2900p/60! Insane.

Makes sense that the 909 isn't colour filtered since correct colour reproduction isn't the most important factor: Light output is.

Imagine. You could spend $10000USD on a 909 and not have colour corrected C elements!!

Yup. But $200 or so later you'd have them. Assuming you're comfortable with the advanced work required to change them.

I thought C elements were at a premium these days now that 3M is no longer making them and VDC will not sell them? Given that you are left with the used market which the last set I saw I think were $400. I wouldn't assume you can find colored c-elements easy unless I am missing something (well at least the red element since few projectors came from the factory with these).

That is a later brochure. I am certain that earlier versions of the Cine 8 were NOT color filtered. I am not sure but I think the Cine 8 became color filtered when they went from silver colored case to black. Not sure though. I would not assume color filtered on a Cine 8 unless it was a pretty late version. The one "early" Cine 8 I saw appeared to be a Barco Graphics 808s with a silver/pearl paint job. The earlier brochure you have on the site also shows no color filtering for the Cine 8 (http://www.curtpalme.com/docs/BarcoCineSeries_Brochure_old.pdf). I know this topic is about a Cine 9 but I don't want somebody to pay a premium for a Cine 8 assuming they are all color filtered.

I wouldn't take 500$ for my set, I don't see ever needing to get rid of them anyway, they fit LUG's and are the end of the line no matter the PJ!! Smile

There are errors in some of the brochures.
E.g. the Cine 8 Digital (last new CRT projector introduced by Barco) has color filtered LC lenses, while the spec sheet lists it as being an AC PJ.
