Any idea?
Also, what components contain mercury?

I believe there is very little mercury in CRTs. Lead is the bigger concern.
See e.g. http://www.epa.gov/dfe/pubs/comp-dic/lca-sum/ques8.pdf. It says the lifecycle emission of mercury is similar for CRTs and LCDs -- but LCDs contain mercury in their fluorescent backlights, whereas the CRTs just burn more electricity which typically means coal-fired plants that emit mercury. The CRTs themselves contain very little mercury.

Thanks Gary...
are you still using an 8500 these days? I have a line on another Dwin which I just might keep...silence is way too important to me. And I have neither the time, inclination or basement for a proper hushbox.
Although this Barco is definitely quieter than any other projector I've had.

I still "have" the 8500, but it would be stretching it to say I've been "using" it. Work & life have been insane for the last 3-4 months and I've only watched maybe 1 movie in that time. But I'm doing the final delivery tomorrow (woohoo!!) so that will hopefully change...
Be sure to get some HD145's if you get the Dwin! But man are they a PITA to change out...

I was just curious as I've been in and out of many chassis...and was wondering if there was any hazard there. I guess lead would be the bigger concern though.

I'f you've been "in and put of the chassis" that much, I'd be more concearned about the flow of electrons from one index finger to the other
