Hello
The screen on my plasma went blank, my wife says she heard a cliking sound and the screen went out, the sound is still here, the tuner works, but no backlight, even when pressing the Menu switch, "menu" does not show up on the right side of the screen. I called tech support, but they were no help. I opened the back panel and found a blown fuse on the y-sus board (6870QYH005B ).
Fuse FS2 (It think it is for Vs: 180 VDC) is blown. Any idea on where to start to repair the board? I have looked everywhere looking for a swollen cap or any other defect...can't find a thing wrong with it. If not, anyone knows a good source to replace the board?
I have tried Jimmy with no luck.

Is that a 3 amp fuse? have you tried replacing the fuse?

Vizio was no help? Serioulsy? That is too bad. Where did you purchase it and how long ago?
I have heard great things about Vizio support so that surprises me that they can't help you.

The fuse is a 4amp. Based on other threads I have run across, I believe there is probably something wrong on the board, and would rather troubleshoot it before replacing the fuse.
Vizio service told me the set was out of warranty (purchased it 2 years ago), they could not provide any troubleshooting help, and referred me to a nationwide service center they recommend...

I can replace it tomorrow and try but I don't have the right size fuse at this time. I figured the fuse blew for a reason.

The Y-sus board has a large black heatsink in the middle of the board and a smaller one on the left handside placed between the two output connectors.

Where did you find that board number at?
The replacement board for your model is 6871QYH053b.
Here's what we know. Usually when that fuse is blown, the ic under the big black heat sink is shorted. You can test for a short from vs to gnd or vs to output. On the never version board you can get a replacement ic but what I dont know is if the older version can use that same replacement ic. Plus its a real pita to change.
Now you can get the newer version board but the cheapest i found one is 179.00. There maybe some rebuilt ones for less but you'll have to search. Shopjimmy has none.
So what would you like to do?

Well I wouldn't mind trying to replacing the IC since the board is bad. I will ohm out vs to gnd first to make sure. Does anyone know what is the part number of the IC? Is it an overheating problem or a design problem? If that doesn't work- Do you know of a source that has the board in stock?

Yes I know the replacement ic number but let me re emphasize that the replacement is known for the 053b board and I dont know if it will work as a replacement for your 005b board. Plus the ic is 50 bucks so its not a cheapo.
Answer to your other question is yes I know of some suppliers that have the newer version board in stock.

One more thing that i must say.......Other then the blown fuse......this board really hasn't been diagnosed.....so just realize that your replacing an expensive board....shooting from the hip. I dont want you to think that I'm saying this is your fix..100%. your still taking a gamble and hoping this is what is wrong with your device.........So....replace at your own risk.

Where did you buy this display? If you bought it two years ago and it was at Costco then you can get your money back. Anywhere else and you are SOL.

i am goin through the same problem right now and i replaced the fuse to no avail. and i ohm checked vs to ground and vs to output and i am getting continuity from everything is there a specific reading i am spos to get? anyone have the part number of the ic ? not trying to buy the whole board since all discount does is fix them i should be able to fix it too.. (they got a core on them.)

The challenge is not the part nor the bit of solder required to change out the defective part. The challenge is to FIND the defective part. 
Frankly it doesn't sound like you're a tech, so I'd swap out the whole board. $179 for something that complex is pretty cheap...
