|
|
Hi,
I've had a PS3 since Nov 06.
Anyway... setting the Blu Ray playback to YPbPr always confused my hdfury or my G70... I don't know which.. but I would get mostly green like some part of the chain was mixed up between RGB and component.
Today... I set the Blu Ray play back to force YPbPr and it just worked.
Maybe this is old news to everyone .... I have no idea how this got "fixed" maybe via a FW update at some point.
However,... By forcing YPbPr of the Blu Ray playback with super white on I get Blacker than Black which is useful for setup.
And,... I can leave RGB set to full so I get correct colors from other things too (video games... and movies on the hard drive and so on.)
Also today I discovered there is a HFCR version I can run on my Macbook which was fantastic too because HFCR is the ONLY reason I held on to an old P200 Laptop PC and I never have to boot that turkey again.

Awesome! thanks for posting this. I just discovered PS3 Media Server yesterday and the 1.09 beta is excellent. What is HFCR, btw?
Off to go try YPbPr on mine. Are you running the power supply on your hdfury?
Thanks,
Dan

I have a power supply for the Hdfury but the results are the same for me with and without it... So... I removed it.
HFCR is a calibration software but my happy-ness about the mac version may have been pre-mature... The mac version doesn't work the way the windows one does and may not be useable for me.

Well, no joy on YPbPr for me. I get a deep magenta tint. Maybe it's just more than the 1272 can handle.
I get occasional resets if I don't use the hdfury's power supply, and that's with just a six foot cable.

I've never had a problem with PS3 component - fed via Moome Ext-HD box to a Marquee 81110+ @ 1080i

I haven't updated the firmware on my PS3 in ages. Maybe I should see what's new.
Didn't realize there was a media server for the PS3, but I don't think I need one in my setup. I have a LaCie NAS with a built-in media server and the PS3 pulls files from there.

This one uses a java based engine and will run on windows as well as linux - Macs too!
It's more than just a media server - it does on the fly transcoding.

The G70 does have a component input. The 1272 don't have it.
So actually it isn't that strange the g70 accepts it.

I am running it as RGBVH though.... the PS3 seems to be sending YPbPr to the HDFury (not the newer Fury2) and the Fury seems to convert it to RGBVH.
Or... I don't know... it never worked before.... My clamp is set to H/C for reference.
I really don't know why it works now.... All I know is if you force RGB output you don't get BTB from the PS3 (at least I didn't) and you have to run "limited" for movies and "full" for everything else but if you can force YPbPr then it helps with all that because you can send out RGB "Full" for everything else.
