I just received an email from a friend in Germany. He has found me a cine 8 with only 800 hours on it for 1900 euro, which turns out to be almost 2500 usd. 
I just checked DHL for shipping and that would be 1400$. 
I am going to see if he can get me pictures.
Tempting very very tempting

DHL is out to lunch with that shipping price. Should be closer to $600.
If you pass, I might take it, I'm now hoarding later model barcos.

Is the Cine 8 like a BR 908? If so I guess I'll have to retract my statement regarding price.

BAX Global is my fave. However they don't pick up from a private home. IT has to be from a business with dock. I have lugged crated PJ's to work a few times but it was worth it for less than $400. freight cost,

Remember there are two Cine 8s. The earlier white/silver versions which were NOT color filtered and in essence were Barco Graphics 808s and the later black versions which had the higher resolution MEC p16s and were colored filtered. If it is the former version, I think $2500 is way over priced when you can get an 808s Graphics from Curt for less though probably more hours. Do you know what the production date was on the Cine8?
And as far as I know there Barco Cine 8 never used the 909 chassis/electronics like the Barco 908 did. I would be very careful to ensure you know exactly what you are getting before spending that kind of money.

I emailed him back and asked if he could get me pictures of the tube condition, the date and if he could see if there were any other boards than what it came with stock.
Hopefully he can get me that info otherwise I'll have to pass.
Still not sure how I'll swing it though. (How long would it take to give 3000$ worth of blood?)

Honestly having compared my Barco Data 808s which I installed high resolution P16s to my Runco 1100 (Barco 1209s essentially) I would say that if I were going to spend that kind of money I would want a 9" LC set. Just my personal opinion mind you. Now if it turns out to be a Cine8 Onyx with LC that might be a different story. A Barco 1208s/2 would give you the same tubes, video path and everything but color filtering.

no.
Only the Cine 8D (Cine 8 Digital) uses similar or identical boards as the Cine9, Re909

Wasn't Dave asking like $1800 for his Zenith 1200 (aka Barco Cine 8 Onyx) last year? I think you are better off going for a 9" at that price range. Bruce and Nash just bought those NOS pjs for about half of that. Maybe they will part with one of theirs for a good price.

If you are seriously interested in something like this you should consider a Barco 808 LC with new High Performance tubes that a friend of mine is building. It is the last of a series of these 808LC machines that will be built and includes fan mods to make it totally quiet, new white/white gun P16 tubes colored CElements and G70 lens's.

For heavy freight DHL is NOT a good choice. Find a company or friend in the states that has a corporate BAX account or does other importing and see if you can ship it throught their account number.
Curt is correct; shipping should be well under a $1,000.00. $600 seems about right.

Hell.. I sold a 1950 International KB6 to a guy in england.. It cost him 800 to have it delivered to the port in Houston and another like 1000-1200 bucks to have it stuffed in a container and floated over to England.. I can't imagine a 150lb projector that would only take up a pallets space would cost 2/3 that of a frign 26 foot long truck that didn't run reliably at the time...
