I am having my Lumagen VisionHDP set up right now to my Panasonic TH-50PHD6EX plasma with a 5BNC-VGA(RGBHV) cable from Blue Jeans.

I also have the opportunity to run 5BNC-5BNC cable to another module on my plasma which accept RGBHV on BNC connectors.

What do you you guys say about the picture quality difference between 5BNC-VGA vs 5BNC-5BNC?

I talked to a dealer who said i will see improvement with a new 5BNC-5BNC cable.

What is your opinion on this before i spend my cash on this?

Hi Likvid, welcome to the forum!

Theoretically 5 BNC to 5BNC over a quality cable will surpass that of a VGA to 5BNC cable. I find it's more important over a long run.

Lot's of HT stuff used 15pinHD VGA connectors and on a short cable run I think you would be hard pressed to see the difference between a quality VGA to 5BNC cable and a 5BNC to 5 BNC cable.

The advantage of BNC to BNC is maintaining a true 75 ohm connection ( provided the ends are terminated with 75 ohm BNC connectors ) less likely to have ringing ( ghosting ) of the image and signal reflections back down the cable causing a slight blur to the image.

VGA connectors are not true 75 ohm and thus, over longer distances you may notice some of the above symptoms. You will also see this with cheap VGA cables.

Jeremy

If he's honest, he'll give you a 7 day full refund policy so you can check it out. I think he's full of it, but who knows.

Thanks, i don't want to spend $130 on a cable and not notice any difference, i can do better with that money these days.

The cable length will only be 6 feet or about 2 metres.
