I experienced a power block failure on my well enjoyed VPH1272Q, while searching for a donor projector I came across another 1272Q which was younger then mine. I have decided to not use the donor part but put the younger projector into service. While removing the lenses to examine the tubes I noticed that the lenses are different on the 2 machines. The older projector has lenses labels as "VPHL-10 HACC PT-65". The younger machine has lenses labeled as "Delta HD8M" Are these fully interchangeable? is one better than the other?

Are other parts of these machines interchangeable between the various years?

I saw a post or 2 discussing G2. The discussion involved various voltages for various generations of machines. Judging of the discussion it appears to be adjustable. What is it? Is there merit to investigating it?

Thanks

I used both types of lenses on a 1272 and could not see a difference between them. That could be because my setup was never top notch.
The G2 must be adjusted with some of the other setting at a certain value, (contrast and brightness?) and either to 4v or 1.5v depending on which tubes/amps/etc. you have in it. Read the Insatll manual and the extra stuff about it on the site. Do a search for it, you will find it. I'll try to link a thread about it.

I was lead to belive the G2 voltages worked as follows:

Check the tube model numbers.

07MP = 4 volts G2
07MSP= 1.5 volts G2

PT-65's I've heard are a little sharper than the HD-8's.

After I posted my inquiry, I searched a little further and found the article about the G2 adjustments and will follow that information to check the settings, Thanks. As to the lens options.. Well I have experienced the PT-65's on the old projector and I might like to give the HD8's a try to see if I have any different experience.
