Saw this just now on a semi-local CL:
http://rochester.craigslist.org/ele/1010534905.html
I'm guessing that's a REALLY vintage LCD PJ of some kind - given the size, and the fact that it has a 'crt bump' toward the front! No reason for that in a digital PJ; I guess they put it there to make business customers used to CRTs feel warm and fuzzy...

It looks like it had meticulous care and was stored in perfect environment.

No idea, but my guess would be anywhere from 640x480 to 1024x768 and maybe 2000 lumens, with 300:1 ansi. I'd be all over that if it was free and I had time and there was some assurance that it generates some kind of image!

Hell no. I've got a bunch of digitals already, and I don't need a huge one that'll probably blow its bulb in 100 hours to add to the pile. At least the little ones I can do fun things with. If it was 10,000 lumens I'd probably go for it, though...
In other news, with regards to my estimates of specifications based only on size and case appearance, I would like to say - who called it?!!?

THe Alice was a very cool projector, way ahead of it's time, and someone might want to grab it as a historical piece.
Apparently though, they were unreliable (say it isn't so!) and Ampro put a sh#tload if R&D into the unit. It more or less killed them from what I understand.

Considering the size, you might be able to take it so he doesn't have to dispose of it. I'd give him your number and say, when you get sick of looking at it, call me.

Yep, at the weight its listed as there, its heavier than my Sony CRT projector, if it had to be taken to a dump, it wouldnt be free here, and it wouldnt fit in a household rubish bin.

I didn't see the original article, it's expired. But if it's an AmPro Alice, it's a 3 chip DLP unit, in either 800x600 or 1280x1024 resolution.
ASSUMING it's totally operational, it won't impress you much by modern standards but they were quite good in their day. Their weak link is that they were built with an onboard PC for controlling it and also running, for example, your PowerPoint slideshow internally. That PC was a fast 486 or early Pentium machine. If you had a hard drive crash you'd be very hard pressed to get replacement operating software.
