So, I guess I was getting gamma because I was only using mkv's...my bad.

But, the reality is...I prefer mkv's anyhow...so I have gamma Smile

I ripped Die Hard last night...went from 40+ gigs to 25 in mkv format. I still think the re-encodes will be just as good...and I'll test that hypothesis tonight when I compare my full bitrate mkv against a re-encode. Even if there is a marginal difference, I don't really care...although I would consider getting full bitrate mkv's of some of my favourite movies...Movies that really show the brilliance of lossless sound. Superbad is quite ok with a dts core soundtrack Smile

So..for whatever reason...mkv's just play properly. There is a very difficult scene at the beginning of Braveheart where the camera is panning over the ocean and mountains. If your pc has any issues...they will show up in this scene. Even a dvd will show some timing errors here...but the mkv is rock solid!

Mark...are flac soundtracks available for download/discussion? Could be an interesting mix...re-encoded video with flac audio.

Ben

If you have the TrueHD or DTS-MA soundtrack you can convert it to flac with eac3to

I know that...but I was more curious if flac soundtracks are available for download.

Will you convert your rips to mkv?

I've never seen the soundtracks available for download without the movie.
