Ok so I got this PS3 see. It came wtih one game "Metal Gear Solid 4." Meh it's ok but it's no Quake 3, I never was a 3rd person fan really. I like the first person shooters. That and the fact I HATE joysitcks for anthing but flying games. I need a mouse and keyboard.

I'm trying to get GT4 and GT5 PL what other games are a must have for the PS3?

Anyone selling any BTW?

Bioshock without a doubt!
I hate first person shooters but this one was an exception.

I'm playing Devil may cry 4 ATM,nearly there but I find the repetition a bit boring hence it takes me forever to finish.
When this is finished Tombraider LEgend here I come, have played all of them and thoroughly enjoyed them all.
I like third person shooter games as I find I get dizzy with FPS games.

I agree. I don't have time to perfect my joystick pointing to make these PS3 FPS games appealing to me. I have limited experience with KB & mouse with a PC and recall that being fun though.

So I have considered getting this for the PS3 to make it interesting:

http://gear.ign.com/articles/799/799262p1.html

But that would be spending more $ on something I may not have time for. Confused

Interesting. A lot of people I know can't play FPS as it makes them dizzy. Have any of you ever tried Quake 3 Excessive for the PC?

Warhawk.

I, too, bought a PS3 as a BD player (and was/am P.O.'d that I had to buy a game console to get a BD player that did all it was supposed to do...). I've been through Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance FOM, and part way through Resistance 2. I buy all my games and BDs used from CDWarehouse, and came across Warhawk at $19. I was a little put off because it was multiplayer only, so I didn't plug it in for a while.

I was hooked, and have played for hours and hours since late November. It is a VERY rich game with almost unlimited situations. Basically, you are playing against other people, not a software designer's idea of what might be "fun". It's a FPS, with lots of variability. Planes, tanks, jeeps, guns, rocket launchers, flamethrowers, grenades, etc., etc., etc. You can be very competitive and never fly the planes, if you like. All the weapons are very evenly matched, so no one player gets the "mega-gun" and kills everyone else. A player on foot can take out a tank, for example. Teamwork is key, and the game supports two-way chat using a headset, if you like.

I'm NOT a gamer-type. I'm 50 years old and run a commercial real estate brokerage business. But, I've had more fun with this game than I ever expected. Best $19 I ever spent.

BTW, there is a large following over at AVSForum. Lots of HT types have met and formed clans, and have a match every Wednesday night. look for the "Warhawk Wednesday" thread over there.

Basically, it's about all I ever play on the PS3.

I would recommend getting a monthly pass from Blockbuster for a month and test out the various games. We have a Wii and PS3 and I did this the month before Christmas to have my 6 year old test out games before we bought them for Christmas. The pass is also good for Blu-Ray and DVD movies. I'am not much into games but my 6 year old loves Madden 09, NHL 09, NCAA 09 (football and basketball). My favorite would be Gran Tourisma

Little Big Planet. Especially if you want to spend time with the GF. You can do lots online with it as well. Super fun, super addictive.

Force Unleashed is really cool, but short. The movies are great though, not to mention all the cool force things you can do.

If you like creepy, Dead Space is really cool.

For Racing Games Motor Storm Pacific Rift.

The great thing is you can download demo's for most games and try before you buy.

Some games I've enjoyed:

Mirror's Edge
Awesome game! 1st person "runner" platformer. I am very much enjoying it.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
This game is just awesome around the board, gameplay, music, story, voice acting. It is a 3rd person shooter, however.

Valkyria Chronicals
If you like RPGs and/or turn based strategy games, this one is a lot of fun.

Shadow of the Colossus
If your PS3 is backward compatible with PS2 games, I STRONGLY recommend getting this one if you have even the
slightest likings of adventure games. It consists of a series of boss battles in which the bosses are of epic proportions.
It is definitely one of the best games out there.

Folklore
I really liked this one, but its more of a niche game. It has a very strong, mysterious/dark storyline. The music nice,
and I really liked the atmosphere and feel to it. The gameplay (combat) is average (save the Boss battles).

Killzone2
Comes out sometime next month, is supposed to be awesome.

Hi dd,

I spent 5 weeks and many many hours searching for a 60gb backward compatible PS3. I met 3 people responded to countless flakes on craigs list and Kijiji and had 5 people try to scam me and a 6th in person. So yep it plays PS2 games. Now if I just had some. Laughing

Wow that quite a bit of dedication!

I have the previous 80gig version with the software emulation. It plays pretty much all PS2/PS1 games. Your 60gig will, of course, have near perfect backward compatibility with the emotion engine built in :p.

It is not too easy to find the older PS2 games, but the classics like Shadow of the Colossus were re-released not too long ago as part of the "Greatest Hits" collection. I think I picked Colossus up new for $15.

Forgot to add. This guy invited me over, poped in a game then he started to get a little sifty and was trying to hurry me up. I'm a long winded off topic tangent talker so I got him talking for about 15 minutes about nothing. The PS3 froze and required a hard switch to shut it down.

Yeah sure I'll pay you cash for that. Uhh huh. What? That never happend before? Never just locked up 15 minutes into a game eh? Thanks, I'll show myself out. LOL

Yah, you don't want one that locks up like that :p. I've only had my PS3 lock up playing Devil May Cry 4 (it seems to freeze if you have something downloading in the background). Although when it freezes I can shut it down by holding the power button until the PS3 realizes the software isen't responding and shuts down.

I am a bit surprised that someone would try to rip you off in person. Over ebay I can understand, but I think I would be a little concerned if someone I just ripped off knew where I lived Wink.

I'll keep your story in mind when I buy electronics used Razz. Distracting them so you can see it running for more then 5mins!

I'm just starting to get the hang of these controlers. I still hate them.

I'm playing Metal Gear Solid 4. One question though....how the hell do you get off the first level? Embarassed

Maybe it's because I'm too tired to see any longer. halp.
