actually its a windows 7 installation but nonetheless how do I change the resolution to 1080i?
I am still setting it up on my desktop but I didn't see a 1080i option in the display pannel. Its a 4x3 monitor but the display pannel has a option for 1280x720 and 1920x1080, but I believe both of those options are progessive.

You'll have to install powerstrip....I think. Unless 1920x1080 has a 30Hz option.
Powerstrip is great anyhow...you can tweak an exact doubling or tripling of the movie framerate...

Nope...works fine in Vista, there is some qurkeyness to make 1080i work with Vista. You have to go into ccc and force into 1080i then start PowerStrip and create your custom 1080i timing.

Ben, what version of powerstrip are you using? I tried running powerstrip in vista but I had problems getting the proper refresh rates to work.
Chris.

I'll check when I fire it up next...I guess it was the latest version though.

I had to do this.
Took me HOURS to figure it out.
Add 1080i as a "HDTV" resolution, then force it in CCC.
Then run PS and tweak it.

I have been playing with powerstrip over the last couple of days but for some reason CCC allowed me to use 720p. 1080i isn't listed so I am going to play with it more.
I have been reading this guide on and off http://www.ramelectronics.net/powerstrip.ep

Kai posted these in his screen shot thread about a week ago. The dialog box looks to me to be Vista.

Superb, thanks for the post with the screen cap, that should help ALOT. I just tried my first res in Pstrip in VISTA and got locked into a scrolling display I couldn't get out of even AFTER I uninstalled Pstrip via Safe Mode...fun.

Paul, you have to override the EDID to allow big res's, and you also have to force 1080i 30hz in CCC first, to put it into "interlaced mode".
Then tweak in Powerstrip.

So how do you "force" 1080i 30Hz in CCC ? I have seen the option of adding HD resolutions in previous versions of CCC, but not this time, there is no mention of them in this version, with this card...

Ooo...aahh..dunno. It's always been there for me - but i'm only on Cat 8.10 I think, on vista32.
What version are you running?

Hi,
iirc I had to move the scaling slider to get rid of the scrolling in Catalyst 8.12 (Vista Ultimate 32Bit). It does not cause overscan or underscan.
I also had to choose 50p as refresh rate in the display properties. In previous drivers it had to either be 23.976i or 25i.
That's something which is strange, but has no effect on the image, since the actual values are injected by Powerstrip.

Problem is, I don't have anymore resolutions now.
Just 1080i
And I need to get all my old resolution back so I can play my games.
edit-I got it working again.
How is powerstrip supposed to work with CCC though? If I add 1080i then do a restart I my resolutions should show up plus the 1080i correct?
