How can I do it? I've tried many times and it's just not working. I can't take it anymore. I'm running at 1080p 60hz right now and from what I understand that's not the best for an NEC XG-750. If I try to create a custom resolution it doesn't appear in the list, I cant set it when I enable the 2nd monitor, and if I set it to same on both displays I get a scrambled mess on the PJ in constant motion, looks seriously bad for the projector.

I also have a HUGE brightness issue still, but that will hopefully be fixed by the GammaX I ordered.

What video card and what OS? I have a 7950gt and custom resolutions worked fine in both the Nvidia control panel and powerstrip with XP,with Vista only powerstrip works and only some of the time.

You can't do Interlaced on the 8xxx or 9xxx series cards. I switched to an ATI card. Plus the colours & 3D effect on the ATI cards is soooooooo much better than the Nvidia cards. Now I run 1080i@96hz, it is awesome!!!!

I guess that's the problem, I'll start saving for either a dedicated home theatre pc with ATI, or my next graphics card will be an ATI. (I need something fairly fast for this pc, as I'm a gamer).

I was doing 1080i on my 8600 card over a year ago. However only from the componenet output. everytime I tred the interlaced button in the Nvidia driver it would say "Resolution test failed"

So I went with an ATi 3850 single slot card 512megs ram. I hate to say it but it just works. ATi makes nice hard ware ( I've owned a dozen of their cards ) it was their software that left something to be desired.

Powerstrip works with this card too but sometimes it'll cause a blank screen requireing a reboot and a BIOS clearing. Ahh HTPC's whatdayagoingtodo?

I am doing 1080i/60 with the 8600GT. I set my resolution to 720P, then go to manage custom resolutions (make sure to uncheck "Force HD resolutions" and check "Allow resolutions......." - Apply) put in 1920x1080/60/32 and check interlaced.
If the test resolution is successful, then save it-go to change resolutions and give it a go.

You are correct to not have dual display set when setting these custom resolutions.

If I try to make a custom interlaced resolution the projector becomes a "scrambled mess" it really looks terrible, it looks so bad I wonder if it could do damage.

I am running Vista Home Premium. If I was getting that kind of corruption, I would reload the drivers after a clean uninstall.

An aside, this past week I started using 1080p at 48hz. JohnHWMan posted some timings he used and I was able to make a 48hz custom resolution that works for me. I only see flicker with white-background desktop items.

I've had this problem even after a windows reinstall. I don't think its going to work. I'm using 1280x720@72hz now and it looks quite nice, I just wish my green tube would focus properly. 1080p isn't readable enough for me on parts of the screen so I'll stick with 720 for now.

Hello,

I have 1080i@72 running with an NVidia 8600 over DVI.

Some things you have to get right:
1) Make sure that the number of active lines = 540.
2) Some older NVidia drivers seemed to have a sign error in the sync polarity when setting custom timings. The newer driver has solved this.

Would you post your custom timings for 1080i/72 for me?

Thanks,
