It's interesting that they'd have the 1292 setup for the screen rather than the g90.

I've known about these select shops for a couple of years now.I have a friend in Japan who was trying to source some G90's or other sony pj's made in Japan.
After some research he told me that the Chinese were buying all CRT pj's to repair and resell to enthusiests, prices were prohibitive, even from China,so anyone salivating at the mouth at the thought of new or nearly new g90's for peanuts keep looking in craiglist.
Although It's been a couple of years so things may have changed. Also guy's,don't go googling crt pj's in Asia for some obscure site that happens to have some cine 9's or g90's for cheap, they're all scams, especially anything from Alibaba.,

Shocked

This would be the actual site of that company: http://kuojingav.com

At least it's dated 2008, so probably they are still in business. It seems to me some people in China have *loads* of cash... although I didn't find the price list but that kinda thing must be expensive over there.

There's even pictures of installations...

I'm still trying to figure out why China cannot replicate these 9" projectors for a reasonable cost ($5K).

I'm sure if you ordered enough quantity they could, though I'm not sure of just how complex and costly it would be to reverse engineer one of these, but then you would need a market for at least hundreds maybe thousands of these, then there's copyright etc etc.

Just another example of the Chinese western trade balance indifference. Notice no AmPro's or E'homes? Laughing

Last year I was in San Francisco and visited Henry Chan at his FH Video Inc. shop. He has an inventory of new old stock G90s and god knows what else. He showed me pictures from a convention he was recently at in China and was talking about the market there. I dont know if he has a direct association with this or not, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Who said anything about reverse engineer? I'm talking about replication--the act of making an identical copy. Why should these the original manufacturers care if a handful of folks (say, 5-10K buyers) want to have a one-off new replicated unit if they do not want to sell them to us directly?

The tubes are already in aftermarket manufacture. Taiwan could easily mass produced the boards. China would be an easy source to reproduce the chassis and power supply.

But a Chinese made CRT projector would be about as reliable as a digital, do you really want any CRT projectors to have their reliability reduced to that of a digital technicolour flashlight bulb burner? Confused

And let us not forget this important fact:

Some skill that receives little attention product wants the human are few, the natural price may discuss much, but the popular product is not good. Some everybody pursued the product which held, the price is very basically transparent.
