Which approach would you take?

Looking for some advice.

In my current set-up I use an Extron SW6 AR HVxi RGBHV switcher to route several sources through a 25 foot cable to my NEC XG-1101. I’d like to add HDMI support.

Should I get an EXT-FULLHD for the HDMI conversation at my equipment rack and then route it through the Extron and 25 foot RGBHV cable, or should I run a separate 25 foot HDMI cable to an XG-FULLHD installed in the projector. Which do you think would provide the better picture?

Thanks.

our setups are fairly similar.

i convert Blu-Ray HDMI to RGBHV with an HD-Fury plugged into my Extron DVS-304. that passes through 25' of Extron RGBHV cable to my NEC XG-1101LC, with a brief pit stop at a Kimmy 2200 to tweak gamma.

i did run without Kim's 2200 and was more than happy with the result - although the 2200 did make it better.

i do all the switching/scaling/converting at the rack and feed the one RGBHV to the projector. i'm moving in a few months and will set up the new room in the same way, i think that it is the most flexible approach. i could run HDMI to the projector, but i have a number of non-HDMI sources and that would me converting them or running two cables and maintaining two convergences.

Thanks for the reply zaphod. It sounds like you've got good results running via the RGBHV cable.

Does anyone here with experience running 20 - 30 foot runs of HDMI vs RGBHV have any comments on any picture quality differences that might be expected?
