Hi all people with delicate eyes
I havn' t been on the forum for a long while but just encountered an emergency.
I was watching a movie 10 mn ago and suddenly all tubes went off on my 1209s... Pj still running, fans on, only the tubes off. So I restarted and just when the warm up white field starts on the tubes, they shut down again. I repeated three times and same thing happened. It really looks like a security shutdown.
I have a spare with all boards, so I can swap if necessary.
Any Idea of what's happening?

Thx if you can help !
I am searching in the troubleshooting section right now.

You have to determine if your loosing high voltage, G2, heater or video signal. When you loose the picture do you hear the HV crackle of the tubes discharging? Will it display an internal test pattern or menu? When the picture disappears is there still a glow at the end of the tube where the crt card attaches? It sounds like its temperature related so when you determine just what your loosing you can then try cool air on the possible subject board and see if the picture comes back. Sounds like your in for some fun........ Smile

I don't know what "Disease" you speak of. The only time all three of my tubes shut down is when I tell them to. Laughing

Thx guys.

I just talked to a technician, he told me to change the QUAD... So I will try do do it myself.

BTW, What exactly is an AMPRO?, It seems to be a subject of jokes here...

It's another projector brand that Pete hates..Smile

I would suggest that you do have issues in the HV section. It could be the EHT board, quadrupler or HV splitter. I am guessing the red lights on the EHT board do come on when the picture shuts off. Note that these quad and EHT boards are unique to the later Barco sets. Putting in a quad from an older Barco will destroy the EHT board within a couple of hours. I've got the new style HV stuff in stock for the Barcos if you need something.

Thx Curt. I know about "intuitives" AMPROs, I was just kidding...

I managed to replace the QUAD from another 1209s set...
I start the machine, then the 20mn white field appears for 10 seconds then "CLAC!" in the THT / QUAD area and tubes shut down again.
I check things then start the machine again : no more white field, it is dead. And I didn't see any red LED nowhere.

I will take the machine to a tech for checking what is wrong exactly then will get back to you when I know what parts I need.
Days like this, I feel the part I really need is a digita PJ... But I DON'T LIKE THEIR PICTURES ! Damn, this is hard.

Why pay a tech when all the help you need is right here?

Smile

Check the fuse on the EHT board. I'll bet it's blown. Your quadrupler is shorted which blew the EHT board. I've got stock...
