In case I'm doing something totally stupid, off the top of your head, is there any rational reason (some setting some place) that would prevent it from syncing up with any signal with a HORIZ frequency in the 30kHz range?

Not that it's an issue, since I've been running 1080p to it for the most part anyway...via and Xbox 360, a Samsung BDP-1500 Bluray. My DVDO HD IScan upconverts everything to 1080p as well. No problems at all.

But for some strange reason, lately, none of these 1080i sources (or 30-something kHz Horiz, frequency signals) will display on the projector accurately any more; producing images with distorted convergence and geometry:

- 1080i-sourced Transport Stream Files recorded from HDTV using MyHD (HD PC Tuner card)
- The Marquee 8500's own Internal Frequency generator
- The OS Menu (when the ouput is set to 1080i) and any signal upconverted to 1080i by the DVDO HD Iscan

Here are a couple of direct links to some snapshots I took..a picture is worth a thousand words:

Any theories?
Thanks.

Hmmm, Try this. Download marquee Librarian. Copy all parameters of your PJ to the marquee librarian. Re initialize the set. reinstall all our settings from the Marquee Librarian and see if it fixes it. I have had some weird convergence stiff like yours going on and a re initialization and the reloading of my settings fixed it. It could be the chips and the connectors on the CLM need cleaning. Or the Battery is getting weak. Could be lots of things. Might something totally unrelated like a bad cable too, or a board in the PJ.

I for got to ask before i rambled on, when you go to 1080p its fine? Do you have a separate memory for 1080i sources?

My 'Quee knowledge is really rusty, but there are some components on one board that go out. I think when they go out you can't sync to 1080i and maybe 720p but some higher frequencies work and maybe some lower--I really can't remember the specifics, but this is likely your problem.

Hmm I never heard that but you could be right, the two boards that have resonant circuits that switch relating to the incoming frequency are the focus, HDM and I think the VDM or is the CVA? BUt that could be it, although those signals all come from the CLM and the smaller DPB on that CLM, Id reseat those first and prss down on all socketted chips on both the CLM and DPB.

Thanks guys, I'll look into those. Really weird. And yes 1080p works fine...so does 720p. All the frequencies from the Quee's internal generator work fine...except the 31.kHz one....which is close to 1080i.

TV/Projector: All of them!

I had something like this, but the set went into H fail over 32Khz. It was the tiny white jumper wire on the motherboard, somewhere under the green tube that had become disconnected at the solder joint.

Otherwise, I'd suspect the VIM or CLM. I've got lots of both.

Cheers!

Replace Q501 on the daughter board on the HDM. It's a FET transistor, and one can be found on the Contrast Modulation Board, that's right over the CLM.
