We am thinking of purchasing an HDFury2 to supply HDMI signals to an AMPRO 4600. Is it worth to get the $339 "advanced" kit with the GammaX converter gizmo? We are confused about this, since there seem to be no controls, just a fixed gamma shaping... it wouldn't do to spend an additional $99 to get a worse picture. Any help would be appreciated!

I suggest the XVue Box1020, words cannot describe how pleased I am with this based on early testing on my Sony Trinotron monitors
I am using a HDFury2 connected directly to the input and feeding the Fury 4:2:2 YPbPr from various sources

Xvue designed the GammaX. It's the Box1020 in a differnt form factor without the component output.

There is an adjustable control the GammaX to control how much gamma boost to use.
All CRT projectors require some form of gamma boost to achieve correct gamma tracking. Without it they will be too dark across much of the scale. I've used and seen dozens (if not hundreds) of CRT projectors. Not one (when measured) will track gamma properly without some form of boost.

yeah I know, but I prefer the external little box, very nice quality, plus there is room for a tasty BNC mod 
either way if the GammaX is identical in performance to the Box units then I cannot recommend them enough

Just curious, you have a VP50 - why don't you do the gamma adjustment there?

Just curious, you have a VP50 - why don't you do the gamma adjustment there? |
the DVDO units do not have a adequate gamma control, it is not point based and effects the whole curve itself, not isolated at the bottom IRE range
