|
|
I have just got my 708 back after a repair job, unfortunately I can't afford to pay for someone to do the set up so I've been attempting it myself.
I've got some problems I hope you guys might help with.
1. A bright red horizontal line across the centre of the screen. Approx 5mm tall.
2. A dark barely discernable vertical line 5 inches wide.
3. The bottom of the grid is very well focussed but the top is slightly out.
4. I cannot get a component picture. I have selected component out put on the DVD player. The message on the screen says 'no source'.
I haven't used the projector for at least a year. Do CRTs need some run in time to get them back to peak performance? Hours or days?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think for component you need to select input 5. Does your red tube work other than the line ? Check the positions of your scheimfluge tabs for the focus issue.
Do you have the installation manual ?

Hi Elaine,
Input 5 is where I am getting the no source error message.
The red tube is ok for a picture, convergence is done, I only see this red line on bright scenes.
Scheimfluges are set correctly.
I was reading the installation manual this morning online (I'm in the office) I'm planning to try the toe in and electronic focus later.

1. Delete all blocks and turn rasters to level from yokes.
http://www.curtpalme.com/Yoke.shtm
Usually this helps for horizontal line problem, that is caused by too much electrical correction.
2. If bar is near left edge, it's raster ringing and usually caused by sources timings. Move picture inside raster (Hphase) to right so that ringing is left outside of picture, then move whole raster to center of tube. If there is no room to move picture inside raster, you have to chance source timings if possible. (PC or scaler)
3. If you are sure about Sheimpflug, then wrong Vlinearity setting can make focus to look uneven. Also wrong astig settings can cause uneven focus.
Electrical focus is used for center focus.
4. What resolution you are feeding?
I think 708 default setting is internal line doubler set on, when it only takes interlaced SD picture (480i/576i).
Set it off from menu and try again. Not sure if it will take higher than 480p/576p signals, even internal doubler is set off.
No need for run in time.
