The model is x300 and it says it has hardware accel of mpeg 1/2/4, does this mean I can play any downloaded hd with hw accel? If so, could I not get away with a very cheap processor? If I bring a pc into the theater room, it will only be used for 1080i video...so hw accel should mean I need very little for a cpu, right?

Here are the specs of the card:

Does ati work well with powerstrip should I need to run 1080i/72??

If you want to use it for Blu-ray or HD-DVD then you need a card that has HDCP support, I don't think the X300 does. For 1080i broadcast HD the card should be fine, what do you mean by "downloaded hd"?

you are referring to blu-ray discs or downloaded rips? I don't have a blu-ray disc player in the PC....but I do have a ps3 which I hope to also use.
