Anyone want to trade a Barco 808 SMPS for a 1208 SMPS?

I have several good used 808 SMPS but no 1208 spares. I suspect the one in my 1208 projector is probably getting bad because it squeezes in from the sides after it warms up. But even if the SMPS is not the problem, I still would not mind having another good one as a spare. Anyway my direct email is RVonse@aol.com if anyone interested.

Is this the 1208s/2 or E - if so then it needs the service bulletin update done on it.

I got a couple - but dont need a (another) 808 SMPS (think I got 3-4)

This just goes into an older 1208/2 with no s. Maybe someone here can tell us if one of yours is compatible? If so I would be very interested in buying yours or trading for any other 808 or 800 card.

I don't know the answer but I can tell you for sure the 808 and the 1208 are so different they will smoke and burst out in fire if you try to mix them. I learned that lesson the hard way. Unlike a lot of other cards in the cage, Barco's smps appears to be very picky about where they end up.

Unless someone a lot smarter than I am says otherwise, I would not swap a smps out with any other unless the part number matches perfectly.

THE 762106 will work, but I've found it ends up with low width, and usually not enough even with the H size control at 100%. You need the 7621065 to fill the screen properly.

Rvonse, I sent a pm regarding this smps. You have not read it yet. Are you still interested in it?

Sorry about that jkruger but I ended up getting one from Zphoto already and then I have been very busy working on my projector.

It turns out my smps was good anyway though and that the width problem I was seeing was actually the HV splitter. What I think may have been happening was that the high voltage feedback from the block was not keeping the voltage constant and perhaps a blooming affect caused it to looked like a width problem. Thats my best theory for it anyway. What I do know for sure is that the width is now staying perfect ever since the HV splitter got changed out.

But here is something really interesting I learned out of all this. The replacement smps did not even have the width that mine did even though the part numbers were exactly identical. So after researching the schematic I tried soldering a 33K resistor in parallel to the existing 47K (R31) which feeds the width pot. Man did that ever make the width better. I've got way more control over width than I thought could be possible.

I want to especially thank Pete and jkruger for all the help here. Really appreciate it. Very Happy
