Hello!
I own a Barco Cine 7, for which I bought HD-Fury about a year ago (great product!) Smile
Lately I'm experiencing a problem with the focus on the green tube; after the 20 min startup time it seems ok, but after about 1.5 hour it seems out of focus.
Only the green has the problem, red and blue are ok. Optical focus is correct.
I found in the installation manual that there are 3 trimmers for electrical focus, but they are not in the place illustrated in the guide!
There ARE 3 trimmers, covered by a metal protection, but I believe that these are the G2 controls (see the picture attached, sorry for the bad quality)...

Any tip would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

Simone

THose focus controls are the same on all Cine/70X series..Smile THe exposed ones are the focus controls, the ones covered by the plate are indeed the G2 controls.

Can you focus the green tube by turning the green focus control? WHen the green focus drifts, does adjusting the control bring it back again?

if so, then you most likely have an electronic focus issue. Since it's limited to the green tube, the problems could be:

1) BAd green tube- not likely
2) Bad focus block/controls
3) Bad CRT socket

Try swapping the red lead from the focus controls going to the green tube with the red lead off the red tube. That way the red focus control adjusts the green and vice versa. See if the red tube then drifts out of focus.

I've got lots of parts for this unit, just let me know.

Thank you, Curt.
I must buy a pair of glasses, I did not realize that the block actually included focus + G2 adjustments!

I will try as suggested; good to know you've got spares Smile

Have a nice day.

Hi! It seems that I have indeed a bad focus block..
Today, after the 20 mins warm up, the green tube was out of focus; I opened the Cine 7 cover and adjusted its trimmer; after that, I noticed that the red tube was out of focus too, so I adjusted it. I watched a couple of movies for about 3 hours and I had no focus drift. It seems that drifting takes place during warm up, but the image remains stable after focusing.
Does it make sense to you? Should I replace the focus block?
I am no expert, actually I'm a computer programmer; how difficult would it be to replace it?
I'm a little worried, because I read in the manual that blue focus is factory calibrated and determine colour temperature; moreover, I never touched G2 controls since the block is partially covered by the upper shell: I can barely reach the focus trimmers. Maybe I can access them by lowering the mainboard to get to the tubes? I only did it once, when the projector was shipped after a first repair and I needed to slightly rotate a tube after transportation.
TIA.

You can either just swap the block itself, or swap the whole PC board. Swapping the whole PC board is easier (no soldering), but shipping will be more if you're overseas.

Thanks!
