The pics in this ad look vaguely familiar.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-VPH-G90U-CRT-Projector-G90_W0QQitemZ280276541401QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item280276541401&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14#ht_1011wt_0

I sent an email yesterday but haven't received a response to specific questions or request for additional pics. Something smells fishy.

Probably fake. Stolen pictures copied description, and shipping charge is way off.

I was the first bidder. The guy hasn't answered any of my questions. The only reason I bid is because I will only pay if he allows me to personally pick up the projector and pay cash. I wouldn't PP or wire a nonresponder like this any money. He hasn't answered my question about picking up the projector in person, but if I win and he won't let me, than he's just not going to get paid.

This auction looks totally bogus in every way. How would someone own a Moome IFB and NOT post images of the tubes.

Also, did you guys look at his feedback? Very fishy comments. Totally looks like he ran a "charity" type donation for low $$$ to up his feedback profile.

Well, I don't think I am even going to bother to bid again. I mean what's up with the auction ending in the middle of the night? What's up with the $45 UPS shipping? What's up with zero answers to anyone's questions.

Clearly bogus.

$1825 if it was real it was a deal... but I think that was certainly a scam.

I just got two emails from eBay:

Quote:
Hello 1easytrader (craigr@cir-engineering.com),

The following listing that you were bidding on has been removed by eBay:

280276541401 - Sony VPH-G90U CRT Projector G90

Because the listing was removed, your bid has been canceled.

To protect the privacy of all eBay members, we can't discuss the details of the listing removal. We hope this assures you that your account information will also remain private.

If the seller relists the item, you are welcome to bid on it again.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

eBay Trust & Safety

Hello 1easytrader (craigr@cir-engineering.com),

Our records show that you recently received an email from elmyragultch through the Ask Seller a Question or Contact eBay Member features. This email may be fraudulent and an attempt to do one of the following:

- Obtain your eBay password
- Gain access to your eBay account
- Use your eBay account for fraudulent activity
- Set up an outside-of-eBay transaction which may be fraudulent

This kind of email is often called a "phish" or "phishing attempt," and the people who send them are known as "phishers." Phishers use these methods to try to get your personal information, such as user names, passwords and credit card details. Because the emails may sometimes come through the eBay system, the phisher may seem to be trustworthy and have a good reason to contact you.

***Important - Protect Your Personal Information***
- Don't reply to the sender either through the eBay system or your personal email account.

- Don't open any links or cut and paste any Web addresses into your browser from the phishing email.

- If you think you may have entered personal information such as your password, Social Security Number, or credit card information into a website based on a request from a phishing email, you need to act *immediately* to protect yourself from identity theft. For detailed instructions about the steps to take, please go to:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/confidence/problems-identity-theft.html

***What to Do If You've Already Sent an Item or Payment***
If you've already sent payment to or shipped an item to a person who asked that you take the transaction outside of eBay, we recommend you take the following steps:

1. Contact the payment service that you used to make the purchase. If you paid by credit card, most card issuers provide consumer protection in online fraud cases.

2. Please complete the "Item Bought Outside of eBay" form or the "Item Sold Outside of eBay" form. To find these forms, please go to:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/isgw-fraud-non-ebay.html

Click the "Item Bought Outside of eBay form" or the "Item Sold Outside of eBay form" link. Enter your information in the page that follows, and then click the "Submit" button. The information you provide will enable us to work more effectively with law enforcement in case an investigation occurs.

3. If you were the seller and shipped the item to a fraudulent buyer, contact the shipping carrier that you used. That company may be able to assist you further. If you sent the item through the U.S. Postal Service, file a mail fraud claim. To do so, please visit:

http://www.usps.com/postalinspectors/fraud/

4. Contact the local law enforcement where you sent the payment or item. The authorities where the seller or the buyer lives might be able to provide additional assistance. To find local law enforcement, go to:

http://www.usacops.com/

***Additional Account Safety Tips***
To protect your email and your eBay account, we recommend that you always follow these safety tips:

- Do *not* respond to the sender either through the eBay system or your email account. An offer to buy or sell an item outside of eBay is against eBay policies, might be fraudulent, and will not be covered by eBay protection programs.

- If you received what appears to be a Second Chance Offer for an item that you recently bid on, check My Messages to make sure the offer is legitimate. Second Chance Offers appear in My Messages with a blue background and a subject stating, "eBay Second Chance Offer for Item...."

- If you receive a Second Chance Offer directly in your personal email and it is not in My Messages, it is not a legitimate offer.

- If a Second Chance Offer appears in My Messages with a subject line of "Message from eBay Member," it is not a legitimate offer. Before responding to a Second Chance Offer, make sure it contains both the blue background in My Messages and the subject line of "eBay Second Chance Offer for Item?"

- Never pay for an item you've bought on eBay by using instant cash or wire transfer services such as Western Union or MoneyGram. These payment methods are unsafe on eBay. It's against the eBay Accepted Payments policy for a seller to request payment using these methods. For more information about payments that are accepted on eBay, please go to:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/accepted-payments-policy.html

Sincerely,

eBay Customer Support

At least eBay did its job Thumbs Up

I was the winner of the G90 on Ebay, it was definatly a scam, the guy wanted me to wire money to a bank in New York. I reported the guy to Ebay and they removed the listing. I new it was to good to be true. This is the second time I have found a G90 scam. The first time was on the Chicago Craigslist. I hope to have one someday, in the mean tine I have purchased 2 NEC XG110's that I hope to run as a pair. I will be starting a new thread soon.

Rick.

I am a total n00b and have about a million questions and blending is one of them, I have seen an add for blendzilla which sounds awesome but @ 20K it's more than a little out of the question. Do you have any advice for me?

Thanks, Rick.

Rick, start a new thread and ask some specific questions there. Good newbie threads are great for other newbie users later that end up having a lot of the same questions. Of course, yours won't be a typical newbie thread!

With your two XG's, you might have some unique and interesting setup questions and options, and the discussion will certainly be interesting. so it would be great if the thread was on its own a with a good thread title - something along the lines of... "Noob with twin XG110's... Stack, blend, or?"

SC

PS - You can never have enough pics in your thread. The new XG's would be good photo fodder. Wink

Rick welcome!
If you have been reading up here on the forum the NEC projectors have an intimidating reputation (entirely undeserved..) but I would suggest you try setting up and familiarizing yourself with a single projector to start.
In the interim you can store the other one at my house.... Very Happy
There are no stupid questions....(unless you have not read the projector specific sections of this site) and most of us have great memories of our "early days" of this obsession.
