Hi

I want to buy 3 Sony 09mfx3 tubes with LC housings on it.
The seller has packed them in a big box (60x60x60cm) but Ups won't ship a box this large.
So I think 2 or 3 boxes is the way to go and shipping from US to the Netherlands is affordable for me.
I think the tube necks are the most fragile part, how can the tubes be packed best?
The tube should not be able to shift and get the full weight on the neck ....

André

When I got tubes the box had foam the exact dimensions of the box. The foam was cut in half, so you had a top and bottom half. It had the center cut out to fit the outline of the tube perfectly. All tubes arrived in good condition.

Ok thanks, so the seller should find some foam and cut it to fit in the boxes.
With the foam I think the boxes won't collapse when other boxes are lying on them.

Expanding foam molded to the exact size of the box and tube is the best.

However, if he paces the tube inside a plastic bag, then just wraps the tubes in large bubble wrap a few times, and then sets that in a large box with Styrofoam peanuts, everything will work very well. You don't want to use just Styrofoam peanuts because the tube can settle over long shipments. If the tube is wrapped in bubble wrap as well, there is more surface area so the tube won't sink, but even if it does sink, the bubble wrap should still protect it. The plastic bag keeps little pieces of Styrofoam peanuts from making their way into every crevice of the tube.

That's the way I sent some tubes with lc housings lately and they arrived in one piece.
The box has to be rigid.

Actually Andre I think i am lucky the box made it to me, The tape wasnt sticking too well and the box was in bad condition, really beat up. those shippers dont care at all. When i picked up the box from my car to the house i left a trail of styrofoam peanuts all the way inside and as i went to put it on my counter the bottom gave way and thank god i had it over the counter when it did!!! Shocked lol. I hope the second box hasn't gone through the same torture ! damn shippers! Make sure you have your guy double box it, or use a very very thick box and lots of sticky tape going all the way around the box , not just strips.

I told that Ups wouldn't ship the big box but they will, however they charge more then the tubes are worth Confused
So Usps is the next to ship the 3 boxes, the seller is looking for foam and a double box Thumbs Up
The only thing I need now is that the $ will be worth half of what it is now Mr. Green
Maybe someone can tell the papers that another major bank is bankrupt Laughing

Ok I've received the first box with 2 tubes in it.
It was covered with thick white foam along the sides and the tubes were bubble-wrapped.
The 1292 housings were sticking in the foam keeping them in place Thumbs Up
The tube necks were floating and that's a good thing because the weight is in the housings.
I couldn't have packed them better Mr. Green
