VP-50 or VP-50 PRO owners: Do you use the vp test patterns when doing convergance, or use stuff like DVE HD Basics (HD or BD format)?
Or, use both?
Thanks.

You could ask this of any scaler owner, not just VP-50 owners.
I've never noticed a difference for things like convergence, but the advice is always to use the source where possible especially when calibrating contrast, brightness, and color as the source will effect this as it is what you use to watch content--unless of course you just watch test patterns.

Good point.
One of the reasons I ask is that when watching hd-dvd DVE on a certain test pattern like a cross-hatch, the image will move very slightly every now and then. I have to pause the dvd to get the pattern to stay still.
Again, it is very slight that it jumps, but when I am trying to get the convergence really tight, it makes a difference.
