I'm in the process of setting up my runco 1101,and realised the tubes are emitting light at full black.I've reduced contrast and brightness to 0 and still light can be seen.I've read that the issue could be G2 related.
I comfortable inside and outside the projector,I know how to turn the pots off but that's it.I'm a complete and utter noob and this is the firt time I've set up a crt.

Can anyone walk me through the whole g2 setup process on the 1101 (aka 1209s)

Then adjustment is done.

When leds are off at that menu, G2 adjustment is correct. Leds should be off also during normal using after few minutes warming period.

Are you sure that your source gives correct black level? Check menu (source) for some black level settings...

Some light coloration in tubes is normal with black picture, but it shouldn't be seen in screen. ABL pulse can also cause some light to upper/lover edge of tube, that wont go away with G2 pots.

So correct me if I am wrong,once I get into the g2 menu I turned the pots until the leds go off,and just leave them off with no further action?

Thank's Ile,I did set the g2 and all is fine now,I use the start of cars as reference and get full fade to black for a couple of seconds and then the slightest hit of light,is this normal or something else I can tweak?

Now you need to adjust brightness with some pluge test pattern, dve or thx optimiser from some Lucas film is good for that. One method (without test pattern) is pick dark scene from some 2.35:1 AR movie and adjust brightness so that black inside picture area is at same level (or one click lighter) what unused raster in top/bottom black bars in your screen.

You probably wont get full fade to black without sacrifying some darkest grays, but with low level gamma boost you will get both.

My greyscale and colour calibration for dummies will also walk you through how to measure and set gamma correctly and make sure that brightness/contrast are also set right (as well as greyscale of course).
