It looks like everything is coming on except the the tubes and the fans. Where do I start?

What are your leds on the G2 diagnostic board. What are on or off or dim or bright?

The red scan failure LED is on, it's just as bright as the green LEDs, all of which are on.

Well the scan fail means just that. Could be vert or could be horz. Projector would then go into HV shutdown. You also need to remember that a problem of the vert or horz circuits not getting correct voltage from somewhere else would also not allow scan to come up and would also result in scan fail. So you problem is not limited to the vert or horz boards. Now comes the fun part, finding the problem board/component. The only advantage you have as to a possible target board is from Curts post that the vert board failure is somewhat common.

Did you try tweaking the H width pot on the SMPS as Curt suggested in Heywoods thread?
