Is there some source for +5vdc 500ma power in a Barco 1209s? I want to power an HDFury right from the PJ so that it will power up when the PJ is switched on.

Doesn't your Runco DTV-1100 have a 12v trigger output?
Rather than taking the risk of pulling 500ma from a circuit
that was not designed for it, why not just use the 12v trigger
to trip a relay that controls a wall bug.
Oh and I have wondered, do your lenses have a hfq900 label
and aluminum outer housings? All I have seen so far have GRP
outer housings.

Being a Runco, there are no labels on them. I have been told by the experts here that it came stock with the 900s and I can't imagine them being changed. They are all black anodized aluminum housings and appear to be very well built. I thought about the 12v trigger, but was hoping to find a much simpler source, like maybe one of the rs232 connectors.

Hi,
There is some voltage on the RS232, it is around 30v however.
John Wyman used that with a 5v regulator in his DVI input boxes
for the Barco 808 and 120x
Both 1101's and a 1200 I have seen came with HD120 lenses.
They are very similar to the HD10GT17. This was the standard
lens for Barco 1209S.

There is 30v and 9v from the '800 peripherals' port and I think there is 9v on the RS232.
I don't know how much current you can pull from the 9v line, but as long as you don't have the IRIS PCB installed you should be able to power an HDfury off of it using a 7805 voltage regulator.. The 9v is fused for 4A. Radio shack probably still carries 7805's for $2 or so.

It sounds like I could build a small device around db9 connector that would do what I want. Anyone got a schematic?
