Hi,
I know this subject is old news to most but the bit of "news" is on all the forums today so I thought I would share it here as well.
http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10016208-1.html?part=rss&tag=feed&subj=Crave
Quote "So if you're worried about the image quality of a "game console" versus a high-end standalone Blu-ray player, it's worth rechecking your assumptions when CNET, Criterion and Joe Kane all vouch for the PS3's excellent performance."
Personally,.. My PS3 adds a lot to my little Home Theater. I can see the appeal of a stand alone unit to some extent because I've been playing video games again which ultimately would be a total waste of time if they weren't so much fun.
Anyway,... hoping this message will reach someone who has been putting off getting a Blu Ray player because the cheapest one (for the most part) is a "games console." The PS3 is a great value and brings lots of fun.

But what does this have to do with projectors?

It's just the best way to feed your projector.
Most CRT FP's can run with 1080i and adding a Blu Ray player and subscription to Netflix adds lots of HD. So,.. Just thought I would offer more evidence that the easy to find and often in-expensive PS3 (I've seen refurbed for just over $200) is a good way to get it setup.
EDIT - Plus I just thought the article was interesting and I think some of our regulars here don't read the other forums where people are discussing this new info (like AVS, HDD and stuff.). Just thought it would get more notice here then in the source component forum.

Well, I guess that pretty much blows the "high-end" guy's non-scientific "impressions" that the PS3's video quality was inferior to a standalone player. I can't find the thread now, but we had pretty much decided he was full of crap. This just confirms it.

Hi,
Sorry, someone previously posted up a link for refurbished 60GB units for under $300 at another forum but I've just been searching and I don't find them at that price now.
EDIT- I found it now it was $279...

Site looks sketchy though so don't take this like I'm recommending them... if anything... that site looks bogus upon further review. Gamestop looks like an easy place to get refurbed PS3's but they are closer to retail prices.
