My BG808s is finally set up in the real HT. My Stewart screen is flat and clean, and I'm really getting down to the nitty gritty!

...but!...

When I'm running in 1440x960 (still stuck in SD land) I get a series of vertical stripes on the left side of the screen: On an 84" wide screen, a gradual series of dark, then lighter, the lightest, then normal lines, about 4" thick each. They look for all the world like the inverse of wear lines!

Now, this only happens in higher resolution modes. If I stick in 800x600 (there's one way to get full resolving on a lousy magnetics setup) it's clean and stable all the way. But I'm having strange timing issues that never cropped up before on higher resolutions - not only this, but offsets and instability that I never saw before in higher resolutions.

I'm suspicious of my cables (nice and thick, but it's VGA->BNC (connector) BNC (projector). But I'm not sure that's it. As far as I know I'm running the same exact timings I was before, when I didn't see these issues.

I'm going to try switching to a single run of cable, but aside from that, any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like raster ringing. Try different porch settings, usually high res in 808 need bit higher porches what standards are.

Moving picture to right inside raster and then moving whole raster to left helps also little.

Thanks, guys. Will have a go!

Did a quick setup at 720p last night and the ringing didn't show up. Am almost considering finding the max res I can run limitedsharpen with, anyway, as the limits of dvd scaling seem to make 960p kind of irrelevant. We'll see. Either way I need to start getting ready for bluray, so getting started with higher res setups is a Good Thing...

for BD or any other HD sources I highly recommend 1080i96 for your Barco.

Recommended timings are in this post: http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=32777#32777

I haven't tried it yet but I think the "IAC" (image alignment correction) feature of the Box 1020, centers the HD signal allowing more freedom in adjusting out the raster ringing. I know at 1080P (without the Box) my phase amd shift is maxed to the right to get the whole image on screen. With the Box, phase and shift are at 50%. I have only tested this on the 3600HD that I have hanging in the garage. I plan on doing a full setup on my 4600HD while I'm on vacation.
