The faint white AKB line is stayed on the screen top all the time. It is not as bright as the white line when AKB is engaged. When I hit the picture function of the remote to enter brightness and contrast, then it gone for only a minute and it come back. Is it related to the G2 setting that causing this issue?

Is the AKB switch inside the projector itself set to normal or test? Are you doing all of this with the remote or did you flip the switch to test and forget to turn it back to normal by chance?

I think we need Doug to explain the whole AKB thing....I never really understood how it works or when to use it. It seems like I see the line when I'm in some of the menus. But I know the switch is turned off.

Paging Dr. Doug.....

The AKB switch is set to normal and the AKB is set to off in the setting menu. Mike, everytime you hit the picture function of the remote the AKB line is up then it gone after leaving the brightness and contrast setting.

The faint AKB line comes on when selecting brightness with the PIC FUNC button on the remote.
Just push the PIC FUNC button again to select contrast and it goes away.
(Whenever you engage the brightness setting the faint line appears.)
That is how my XG 110 works.

BTW-
I am now happily enjoying 1080p on my XG.
Setup:
SOURCES: Set to output 1080i
1. Scientific Atlanta 8300 HD w/ SARA software and external 250 gig SATA Seagate hard drive
2. Toshiba HD-A3
Sources1 & 2 > Monoprice HDX-402 matrix switcher
HDX-402 HDMI output 2 (w/ audio) into JVC RX-402 receiver >KD LEEZA (HDMI to DVI) >DVI out to HD FURY > XG110
HDX-402 HDMI output 1 (w/ audio) > Olevia 747i ( separate digital audio cable from sources to Pioneer VSX-811 receiver)

The Monoprice switcher is the newest one w/ the dimmer leds.
It does need to powered off occasionally to do the handshake thing-
and it does NOT like 2 Toshiba DVD players connected to it!

My Xg is still on a table facing the the opposite wall(Behr Ultra Pure White)- from the Olevia.
The Olevia is in the old case that was a 55" Pioneer rptv.
As I (slowly-the attic is hot!) finish all the in wall speaker runs and finish the wall opening,
the Xg will fit into a hole in my living room wall (formerly an ac wall unit there),
and rest on and/ or suspend over the top of the old Pioneer case-yes I added bracing to the inside- just in case!
So far I have my 2 sets of side surrounds up on the ceiling and canted downward and operational.
Yes- 2- 7.1 surround systems in 1 room- it's a small house-
I must be nuts!!

Yes,the AKB line will gone after fully exit the picture function menu but it come back after a while. The difference is it is a faint white line and is not as bright/solid as the AKB line brought up by entering into the picture function of the remote.

Hi beachbunnyfl,

Congrat on your new hometheater setup. How about the performance of KD LEEZA? I have image fold over issue if 1080P signal is directly feed into XG135.

Hello Ricky,
I will have to watch for the line coming on faint on my setup- I have not noticed it so far though.

The KD LEEZA has 2 selectable 1080 settings:
1920 x 1080p A -which I currently use @ 60hz/ positive sync.
No image fold over problems after a new signal entry and setup on the XG.
1920 x 1080p B- which I tried- by accident - and drove me crazy for a few days.
There was a " blooming" or "mossy" edge effect put out by the blue tube-
which I had replaced a few months ago with a near new one.
It looked like a light violet flare or haze that outlined bright portions of the image.
I even tried the RS232 KD software to fix it-but only erased my firmware with a bad serial cable.
TIP: ALWAYS pinout your cables with a meter before using them!
Luckily, I was able to restore the firmware with and old Digital Research pc-
but only after locating and installing a couple of .dll files
( I'm a Mac user- so this was not fun!)
I am using the latest firmware- available on the Key digital website.
The KD software allows separate rgb adjustments for brightness, contrast, saturation and KD-PE(GAMMA)!
I like the Leeza- it solved my gamma needs, allowed me to tweak, and seemed to solve some stability issues,
like hum bars and gave me extra inputs.
It did not help my old VCR though- now I will need a time base correction unit or JVC higher end VCR w/ TBC.
For now old VCR tapes go into the Olevia 747i which does wonders for them w/ the Realta chip!
I sometimes think the 1080p picture may not be as sharp as using 1080i- but it may just be my eyes-
overall to me it is an improvement and that's what counts.
I bought my Leeza on eBay from a b-stock reseller- no need to pay big bucks!
I hope this helps you or any others out there.
Robin

Clarification on the KD LEEZA:

The RS232 control is via Hyper Terminal-
that app is in the accessories folder in Windows 95 on my old pc.
I had to add mfc42.dll and msvcrt.dll files to my system to make it all work.
The Key Digital site for Leeza downloads is:
http://www.keydigital.com/Firmware_HDLeeza.aspx
The firmware download also included a Key Digital control module
for the Leeza, but it needs a code entered to use it.

Robin,

Just curious. Are you saying that Hyer Terminal still using Window 95 files? Can't believe that. Most of the programs wont execute in Window 95 now.

I am saying that I have used an old pc running Windows 95 to use the NEC PC control software-
then with the addition of the 2 .dll files, (mfc42.dll and msvcrt.dll) -
I was able to use the Hyper Terminal application-
the one in Windows 95- to access the RS232 control of my Leeza unit.
I do not have another pc w/ a newer operating sysem other than Linux-
and that seemed like too much work to try to use, if even possible!
All my Mac computers cannot do what an old pc w/ 24 mb of ram can do!
