I tried to get a picture of the tubes prior to auction end but no luck. Sad My $2150 bid was too little too late. At $2600 a great price if the tubes are decent. I really don't need another pj with worn tubes even if it is a G90.

If it's the G90 I'm thinking of it had been inspected by a member here and the tubes were crispy.

In this context is "crispy" bad or good? Sad

Crispy like toast whatagoof. Sad but the parts on the YA board or the whole board alone is worth half of the by cost and the lens should fetch a nice 500 bucks at least. Parted out its worth that price I think. And the G90 yokes can be used as frankenyokes III as done by Antorsea in Spain.

I looked at it and passed. Sold by some bulk selling place, and '9000 hours and the owner says the bulbs have been replaced'.

Ummm, yeah, right!

my money's on Terry, or possibly that guy in france. I think it's impressive the things are still holding their value with this YA boad issue and the almsot possible nature of the repair needed.
BTW, does anyone have that pic from the G90 that spot burned all 3 tubes?

A few of them.

From what I remember the Ya board didn't cause the spot burn... check for threads on avs...

Still, as I predicted, parts units are now coming available. Now I just need a BArco 909 here and my test set lineup is complete.

Like most of you, I'd love to get my hands on a nice G90. Can't justify the cost though. If I'd won the auction at $2150 and then came here and read all the chatter about "crispy' tubes I would have gotten a very bad feeing. 6k & up for new PJ is not gonna happen.

I have a G70 that throws an incredible image IMO but that hint of wear on the B & G tube really jumps out on white scenes. I've never seen a 9" machine in action so maybe I don't know what I'm missing but don't really see how they could be that much better than my G70. However, that insatiable desire for better PQ drives me to want a G90. Even if I replace the B & G, the PQ will only be marginally better and is hard to justify the cost.

My Cousins husband works for the Science museum planetarium in Thessalonki Greece and they have 6 909 split packs they are suppose to or allready did replace with digitals. I told him to save them for me if he could or maybe try to claim one or two. I need to get in contact with him and find out what they did with them.
