I was making a quick setup now that I finally got my Marquee 7500 into place.
When first got it it worked fine the little I tested it before pulling it apart for bleeding, changing fans etc.

Now that I got it together I would not get a pic. I restarted it and got a H-fail light (was not on the first time as I checked).
I reseated the HDM and it powered up with the usual HV sound.

After a little while I noticed the image decreasing and going back again in horizontal size in a flickery kind of way (medium speed and smooth change)
(with no source btw)

So I think it is one of the parts feeding the HDM.

So my thoughts went to the CLM that houses the deflection processor amongst others.
Can I pull and re-seat the IC chips without a problem, also the daughter board?
I thought I should ask before trying.

Could it be a bad contact somewhere else?
Known fault?

Hello

Try reseating the HDM, and pad the HDM sleeve cover with 2-3 mm of layers of duct tape to support the weight of the board. If that doesn't help, try replacing C50 on the HDM, a large electrolytic near the bottom edge. Use a high-temp 105C replacement.

Thanks.
I reseated the HDM and also the daughter board. Ill have to see if it helps later today.
My PJ is pedestal mounted so weight is not a problem.

It seems to be a lot of dust on the CLM and the chips. Would it be OK to pull them and clean? (ESD protection of course).

Yes you can either pull all the chips out on the CLM with an IC puller or try just pressing down on them a bit. Then if you can find denatured alcohol it be a nice idea to clean all boards with it, use a soft tooth brush and plenty of the alcohol. let air dry over night and use compressed air to blow out from under chips. Your Marquee will be happy too!!

That's also known as Methel Hydrate or camping fuel for the camp stoves.
I went to a few places looking for Denatured alcohol then I realized it has different names. I use it for work. Cleans up ink from plastic great.

I didn't notice any flicker today although I didn't run it very long so I hope that did it.

Now to another question. How can I squeeze the image even further vertically?
The normal mod is already done but it's not enough if I want to stay within the wear.
