I have just purchased a 1270Q Sony CRT pj from USA on ebay. Is there provision to swap the power on the power block from 110v (US) to 240v (AUS)? I have been told that 220v would be alright, plus 10amp fuse to a 6.3amp fuse.
I have 1 1251QM, (with damaged tubes). Would it be easier to just swap the power blocks over? Also the HV block.....do I change this as well?
Which is the better pj.....1251QM or the 1270Q? If the 1251QM is the better one perhaps I could get the tubes from the 1270Q fitted to the 1251QM???

The sets are similar the 1251 would be newer
They have different power supplies so do not swap them
You can change the jumper in the 1251 power supply
The 1252 and 1272 are auto select just have to change the fuse
I have not been inside a 1270 power supply I will look in the manual for you
Don't swap any tubes until you have fixed why they are damaged or you will just have two damaged sets of tubes
I will post back when I find my manual

Thanks for your response.....hope you find your manual!!
I noticed on AVS Forum archive 2 that Graham Johnson stated 'The 1270 power supply is exactly the same as the 1271. Swap the jumper and fuse and off you go. The fuse is a 6.3 amp ceramic body delay type for 220V.'
I collect the projector on Wednesday and will check the power board to see if this can be done.

Found my manuals and the power supply is the same as the 1271 just change the connector cn109 from the 110 to 220
It is right in the front corner of the metal power supply block and don't forget to change the fuse

Thanks very much for the information. It works perfectly. Just wondering if you knew the answer to one more question? In the accessories supplied along with the projector there was an extension board, part number 0H03T4. Any idea what this is used for?

jandal4 as you may have noticed the boards are all inside the projector if you need to adjust things on the board this is an extension board to bring the cards out side while still connected
It is handy however you should not need it
