does anyone happen to know how mcuh a G70 chassis weighs without the tubes, lenses, and covers? i'm guessing around 90 pounds?

I'd say more than that, it's about 220 loaded, right?
So maybe 150?

thanks guys, it looks like anything over 70 pounds is over the US postal max anyway. Looks like i'll be pulling the boards out and shipping them seperately in mutliple boxes.

Check with Fedex. I know they do atleast 90 lbs and their prices are comparable. I've been investigating the same issue with shipping heavy items.

I just tried Fedex rate quote from west coast to east coast at 150LBS (max allowed) and ground rate was 142.34.
