Apparently my BD800 will only display 720p over RGBHV if it has negative syncs. I was wondering what you guys would recommend for converting the sync off of my Xbox 360. So far the only thing I've found is an RTC2200 for $189. Surely there's something cheaper?

Also, my Xbox has HDMI and someone suggested I use Port 3 with an HDfury. I'd be happy with that (I'm considering getting one regardless) but according to Curt's Page I don't think my Bacro will work and even if it will, will that fix my sync issues?

You can use the HD fury in through port 5, but you will still probably need a negative sync convertor. You can get one on ebay. Search for Extron. Here are some more details on Extron boxes. Models 108 or 120 or 202 would be best.

Also, I think you may find 1080i looks better than 720p on your data 800.

Thanks, I love the price but what is that 9 pin connection it's using as an input? Can I just get a cable to go from D-Sub to that?

Also, what will it take to change RGBHV into whatever port 3 uses on my BD800? I'd like to see how if I can get a bit sharper of an image off of that though I think my tubes have just had too many hours in standby to be really sharp.

According to curt's page, you cannot get RGBHV through port 3, so you are stuck with port 5's BNC inputs. With an ES focus projector like yours, with higher hours the tubes will not be as sharp anymore, and thats just something you'll have to live with.

The 9 pin input on the extrons requires a custom cable, or I think you can by an extron RGBHV buffer that will work as well. The instructions to make a cable are on the eboyztoyz website. You *may* be able to use the port 3 cable that you can buy from the HD fury section on an extron box, the pinouts look the same...

Many thanks to everyone on this forum especially Brooklyn. I've bought an Extron RGB 158xi tonite from Ebay. With shipping it's going to be 40 bucks. Hope that will solve my problem. I have an BG800. BTW, doesn't anyone know how to convert computer resolutions to HD resolution such as 720P, 1080i, 1080P?

If you want your PC to output any resolution (including 1280x720 or 1920x1080) use the PC software called powerstrip. Your Barco 800 will do 720p or 1080i nicely but not 1080p.

Hey Guys,

I have a BG800 also. Just got in my HDFury and wondered if I need something for negative also?
Here is my setup.

Sony SAt HD200 set top box for OTA
Momitsu v880 dvd player > DVI to HDMI cable > to 30 foot HDMI in attic > HDMI to DVI > HDFURY 5bnc to projector.

I get the same garbled signal with the sat box when I try 1080i

Thanks
Edward

I have a BD701s, which also requires negative sync. I have connected the XBOX 360 output with no probs. Whats the deal there? I have used both component and RGBHV.

Were you using resolutions higher than 1024x768? 1024x768 and below worked fine for me but 720P and 1080i didn't. Is your Xbox 360 one of the newer ones with an HDMI out? Those are the only kind I tried, I suppose it's possible the older ones will output a negative sync at any resolution....

Using 1080i and also 720p. Xbox is a little over 1 year old with vga RGBHV output.

The only difference I can figure is that yours is one of the older generations, does it support HDMI?

That must be it then. Hmm, I think I'll ask around and see if I can find an old one to test it with.

I've got an HDMI version. I have successfully run 1024x768 and 640x480 on my Barco 801s without negative sync. 720p and 1080i did not work though. This is via a VGA cable. Tried on both port 3 and port 5.

Maybe 1080i and 720p work with the 701s just because it is a newer machine. Or maybe it has to do with the scaler you use. Do you connect the 360 directly to the TV, or run through a scaler? What sync does the scaler output?

connected direct from 360 to PJ. Couldn't connect via tha scaler coz it will only passthru any signal above pal or ntsc. So no cable driver. Had to put the 360 directly below the pj using short vga output cable and short homemade vga to bnc breakout cable.
