Yes, please dont tell me how bad I will miss my Zenith Pro1200x (Barco Cine8), but we are downsizing and it is just too huge for the room...

I dont have a damm clue as what to get..

I have looked at sony and the marantz VP-11S2 1080p DLP® Projector... I know I will loose my ass in value over the years, but it has to be done... I can budget up to 14k and most brands I get 50% off on due to my mfg contacts...

I love my Zenith, but it's that or the wife Sad

Something that will be comparable to the 1200x is the JVC RS2 (around $5-7K) and a Lumagen scaler ($1000) that'll let you fix the very broken primary colours on the RS2 to get them more in line with what you're used to on the 1200x.

Kal

P.S. Sale of working projectors is strictly forbidden on this forum. It's how Curt makes a living.

Kal,

I thought you were going to reccomend a much more expensive unit... I am not familiar with it...
Another reason I want out is I am TIRED of Moome's products... TWO EXT-HD and neither work.. One did for a while and died and the 2nd was DOA....

ARG!

if any woman forces you to choose between HT perfection and them.... well there's always another woman....

However if you're stuck on this woman and choose to go to the "grey" side... my choice would be a Sony qualia, w/an anamorphic lens and a self masking curved screen.

Seems to be quite a bit of sont bashing on the forums... I did like what I saw on the SXRD's but all the bashing has me worried..
Any thoughts on marantz VP-11S2 1080p DLP® Projector??

I did look up the specs on the JVC and it seems really good!

Dont get me wrong, if I had a larger room and could talk my wife into it I would keep it.. Also if I could find a good RGBHV convertor (I am SOO tired of moome's stuff not working)... I just want a convertor w/ a line driver.. I can do gamma on my scaler...

With every source going digital it is such a pain to keep up with boxes and cables...

I know a digital proj w/ depreciate to zilch in a few years, but what is my Zenith worth? About the only thing that still works and semi-holds its value is amps (plinius) processor (lexicon) and speakers (duntech).... It is truley sad..

HDfury with the RTC2200 or Box1021 would work. Or Moome's new EXT-FULLHD (haven't had any problems with my pre-release version other than the issue that Moome's fixing now. It's less complex than the EXT-HD so likely less issues?)

I am RUNNING away from Moome.... 5 Months and things still dont work...

That JVC does look very nice... Do any major retailers carry it???

any woman that say's "it's me or this" isn't really worth keeping.
However if your room is really that small or whatever then go for the JVC, get an anamorphic lens, and do a 2.35 constant image height. If your going to give up some CRT quality you might as well get the one thing the digital PJ's do with ease which is CIH and it's really cool, especially with a motorized self-masking screen.

YES, enjoy yourself watching movies . IF the enjoyment of this hobby is gone then that is a great time to get out ,

NO apologies needed.

Great advice Curt! but remember if he buys a digital he will ALSO want to replace it in five years Smile

Too Funny Kal, are you going to give him yours ? Poor guy has had bad luck waiting for months and months and poor quality non working units when they did come, not to mention it is half the reason he is getting out of the crt game because of all the HASTLE and you recommend a vaporware MOOME product .

You think they are brutal on AVS ? Hell here you are told to wait for a "future" moome product and then told to dump your wife for a f*cking CRT projector ...... LOL.

If you can, wait until Cedia before you make a decision. Current models drop in price and if you can afford to buy the latest and greatest there will be some newer models coming out that will be worth a look .

You do not need to spend 14 Grand on a new Digital to compete with that loud, poor focusing, low bandwidth, projector, Wink

No, of course not I'm not giving him mine. Just mentioning the options out there so he has all the info. He can do whaever he wants. I did mention mine's only pre-release so not trying to hid the fact that it's not out yet.

No, I'm not telling him to wait for a future Moome product. My first suggestion was HDfury. Just mentioning that EXT-FULLHD is coming available soon so check it out. It's called full disclosure so that the poster knows what's out there.

Methinks someone pissed in Bruce's cornflakes this morning. He's slammed pretty much every reply in this thread.

Slammed ... I was only playing devils advocate Kal . First I was teasing him about his old loud crt as I did pm him and ask how much to BUY it!! .. I winked, you must have been looking the other way . Sorry he happens to have the same projector as some others who are a little sensitive Smile I love razzing / AKA teasing You Kal / AKA webmaster Smile

I think there is a good chance he will WANT or NEED to get a new projector in five years whether he buys a three headed or one headed monster.

I love Crt Kal. In my personal circumstance it is the best projector for me , I also love playing with them, and I wouldn't trade a RS1 for My BIG 9". I also am planning a restoration on 65 IMPALA CONVERTIBLE but I can see why and appreciate why people buy new cars . Besides I was showing him some POSITIVE options available, other than leaving his wife and running to the door every time he saw a mailman walking by for the next six months.

Kal even if someone pissed in my cornflakes It would not ruin my day! not even if the manufacturer of my projector mislabeled the bandwidth specs on my projector Smile

I guess I should take this Theater stuff more seriously and quit joking around.

Bruce

I have been looking at this one for a friend, it should be released soon.

Well.. Stired up things a little here..

First on Moomee, Not only have the last 2 EXT-HD boxes either not worked or died after a week or two but I have waited months and lost $$$ on his crap. He must have better luck with the internal cards.... I was PM'd by over 5+ people with the same Moome problems... Also I was kinda pushed into Moome by some people here (nameless) as it was the 'best' thing out there...

emdawgz, yes yes, she isnt making me choose but in my pre-nup it is grounds for divorce!!!

Curt, I agree the Digital might be dead in 5 years, but so will whatever technology it came with as well. I am sure 4k is not that far off... There will soon be a cutting off point for CRT's.. It's isnt here yet but it will come...

Kal, As above I wouldnt touch Moome's EXT-FULL HD if someone gave it to me free and paid me to use it...

I saw the JVC today, and I am blown away.. I didnt get much time to play with it, but will later...

The one thing I really want to know is if I can put the Fury on the HDMI OUT Port of my DVDO and if it will work w/o a line driver.. I hate to order a RTC or BOX unit if I dont need to... If I need one, someone out there must make just a line driver.. Since the analog out of my DVDO is RGBHV, I now have to convert RGBHV to RGB and Back to RGBHV.. A damm mess of cables!!! Thats another reason the grey side looks better... Moome's was a nice idea, HDMI in and RGBHV out...

Damm! So confused........ Wife aint happy either, since we cant watch BlueRay thank to Moomee...
