After a long time of board swapping and wire unplugging and replugging I think I have a dead CLM or one that needs some magic put back in it. The projector acts totally dead just the "standby" fans run. If I hit the power button on the remote one light flashes for a 1/2 second on the CLM but nothing happens. I tried to press the reset button but nothing.

It could be anything to cause it not to start the HVPS. The light you see is most likely the remote light telling you that a button was pressed. the only way to know for sure is to test your boards in another working set. If you dont hear the crackling noise the HVPS is not starting.

you could try a different DPB, if that is faulty the CLM wont work either. Then at least you'll know its only the CLM. it might be the voltage regulator U3, its har to test unless you have extender cards. you could solder a wire to the out put to measure the voltage.

i'm not sure of what other IC to chech but you could borrow someones CLM and at least swap out the removeable chips one by one and test.

Going out on a limb here,Marquees also have a dallas chip , not sure if it like the one in the sony G90 that causes problems al ot but it might be worth a look.

I would clean all sockets on the board. Corrosion is a known problem.

I havnt really looked at the Schematics for the Clm to see what would go bad on it I just looked it over for the Modification thread and didnt pay much attention to any components that would go bad to not cause it to work. Always start with power supply rails when trying to figure things out. if rails to chips are not showing power where there should be you have to back trace and follow the power rail to a point where there is power and then start diagnosing, that is basic common sense, but always start with the power incoming to the board. On the CLM there are so many parts it could be anything, Especially if the machine does not power up.

Not sure if you have the service manual but here is a link for you, you can down load schematics and the service manual here, read through it as it describes how the CLM works, from there you can decide where to look for the problem. or just send the board to Curt or Tim. I really dont know how to properly diagnos things as well as the experts, this is just new hobby learning stuff for me that has me interested. I like knowing how things work so reading the service manual a few dozen times has gotten me closer to my goal.

I dont remember how marquee acts when vim fuse(s) was blown, but that can be case. Check those two green fuses near multipinconnector.
