Hi,

I just set up a very sweet looking 720p picture on my 1209/2 without a hitch, but moving on to 1080p seems to give me some issues.
Basically it would seem that the raster is not big enough for the 1080p picture.
When I set a 1080p resolution (on port 3 btw) the picture just wraps aroung the edges of the raster. There is more than enough room on the tube left itself mind you, it's just that the raster is too small at that resolution...
Is there something that can be done about this?

Greets and thanks as always Wink

It seems like I have heard that port 5 is the preferred input for 1080p. I have not tried to go higher than 1080i myself, and have not used port 3 at all.

Hi, thx for the reply.

I noticed that you have a 1209s and in your case I would go for port 5 too. Unfortunately, my port 5 (since I don't have an s version) is not as flexible with regards to inputs so I have no choice but to go for port 3.
On 720p it's great though (very sharp despite the lack of scheimpflug and easy convergence) which is why I wanted to step it up and try 1080.

I hope someone can chime in so I can get this puppy up to where it belongs Wink

Your problem is related to porch timings in the video signal. This can only be really solved with a scaler that allows you to adjust the porches, such as a CrystalioII or a VP50pro.
What is your source?

Hi, I used an Xbox 360 for this...

I just tried with my pc attached but then I get a 'pan&scan' desktop if you know what I mean...
The whole desktop won't fit but when you move the mouse you can see the rest of the desktop as the picture scrolls Very Happy
This could ofcourse be a driver issue (as for instance the monitor is still defined as a default monitor) but then again, this problem does not show on 720p.
If this is also a porch timing matter, I could use Powerstrip to set it correctly of course but to be honest, you will have to tell me how to achieve this since I have no idea of the values required Wink

DistreSs: You just described the exact problem I have on my sony 1292 and I can tell you that powerstrip doesn't seem to help. I'm very new to powerstrip but can't shrink the cropped desktop image to fit inside the raster. I can move the cropped picture around. I can extand and contract the cropped image as well but can't get more of the desktop to be shown.

I'm still working on the problem so I'll post if I find one!

Sorry if it seems like I hijacked this thread but since DisTreSs and I have the same problem I might as well as the following question:

Is the 'turn over point' a variable in powerstrip? If so, where is it? Also, can you adjust hight as well as width?

I'll keep looking as searching the forums didn't find it. Thanks for the help as this seems to be the problem!

Sounds like exactly what DistTreSs is looking for. I have a sony 1292 so I don't know if I can adjust that on mine and if so, where. I might start my own thread soon if searching continues to come up with nothing. Thanks,
-Greg

In 1209 high freq mode chancing point is adjusted by turning P1 pot from vertical deflection module. Green led in horizontal deflection sub board indicates when high freq mode is used.

I'm not sure if this is help with Xbox timings though.

Extended desktop is another thing, it's caused by pc video card. It could be that your another display resolution is limited to smaller resolution and that's why video card use extended desktop. Test only projector output activated or projector as main display.

Hi Ile, thx for the info.
With regards to the extended desktop though: the video card should not be at fault since when I attach my 808s, there is no extended desktop...

You need to go into your video driver setting's and tell it your maximum resolution. If it thinks your max resolution is 1280x720P for instance and you go 1920x1080P it will only output the 1280 signal and make you scroll around. It's called virtual desktop. It's a PITA most of the time.
