So my uncle Moose had a bunch of Region 2 discs. Most are titles that are also available in Region 1. Any idea why he would collect/buy these? Examples: "Angel: The Series", "A Fistful of Dollars (Special Edition]", etc...

They have different audio language and subtitle choices. I bought 50 first dates from europe for the greek subtitles So my parents can follow along a bit better.
If you have foreign speaking family or you yourself speakes another language its nice to try to find a movie in that language to help you stay up on the language.

Still looking for a movie with Greek in it not subtitled.

No non-English speaking people left in our family... so must have either been for PQ reasons or something I haven't yet discovered.
I don't have a complete list yet, but you can check what I have for sale at:
http://www.amazon.com/shops/truthbrew
Search for "Region 2", which will filter.... only 6 titles for now... more to come.
Also just listed a ton of Criterion discs that are all still factory sealed.

Ding ding. Mark nailed it. R1 NTSC discs are 480p. R2 PAL discs are 525p - nearly 10% greater vertical resolution. If you had a player/display that could display it (like our HTPCs and projectors), the PAL discs could look a fair bit better than the NTSC discs. Like Mark said - they both look like crap now compared to HD.

Well, PAL is 576p, but yep, that's the deal.
