Got an email this morning from Amazon:

Summer Blu-ray Blowout: Save up to 50%

Summer has officially begun and we are excited to announce a special promotion on over 100 Blu-ray titles at up to 50% off. This is a fantastic opportunity with bargains on Amazon’s wide selection of discounted Blu-ray titles, including “300”, “The Terminator”, “Bladerunner (Five-Disc Complete Collector's Edition),” and “Weeds – the Complete Second Season.” This promotion ends June 9. In addition, Amazon will be celebrating graduation season and Father’s Day with “High Definition Week” in the Gold Box from June 2-6. I've never heard of this gold box thing... must be new.

The gold box thing has been around for quite awhile. I've bought a couple of things that way. Some pretty smokin' deals occasionally, but it's not usually stuff I'm interested in (not say that a lot of others wouldn't be.)

It's right at the top of the Amazon page - it says "Today's deals" and has a gold chest next to it.

No problems SC. Smile

So are there any interesting deals with these gold box things? I've never really paid attention.

I couldn't find anything I was interested in, nor do I usually. I rarely see something and say, "Oooh, that's a good deal - I'll buy it." I just buy stuff when I need it. Good deals used to tempt me all the time, but I have so much more self control than I used to, I don't usually succumb. Wait, it's that or I just like to save money to buy the big stuff, now. Yeah, never mind the self control bit - it's the big stuff thing.

Yup. I think these sales are great for those that are first starting off with Blu-ray, but for most people who have been into it for a while it's rare that'll you'll find something you like.

I know I took advantage of a lot of these sales when I first started out with Blu-ray and wanted to replace some of my fav's.
